Technically, people diagnosed with PDD-NOS can't use the term "Aspie", neither can they use "Autie". NO real alternatives emerged so far for PDD-NOS-ies, which is a shame, considering they are the largest subgroup on the spectrum. However, all this is a bit obsolete now, as everyone would be just "autistic" as the new DSM is about to be released. Personally, I don't like the idea that such a well-known category as Asperger's will be erased, it would have been wiser to use it more inclusively in my opinion, but not by much, the new ASD diagnosis will be just fine.
 PDD-NOS, AS, HFA, at the end of the day, these are terms. They have a particular meaning in DSM-IV, with insurance providers, and with administrative boards. To the average person on the street, the terms are interchangable anyway, so at a certain point, are we really bound by the term that is was in favor with whoever DXed us?
Asperger's is based on a name of a doctor who showed the bright points of his patients. If spectrumities want to use the term "aspie", I don't see it as a bad thing.
