Although I don't often really think about it, this is a very strong characteristic of mine; becoming fascinated by patterns, movements and rhythms. If something moves or changes color in an interesting way, I just sit and watch it and wait for it to do it - or make it do it, if that's the case - over and over.

The stars always leave me standing there staring at them, the crisper the night, and the less light pollution in the area, the harder it is to resist just standing there and gazing around at the local Universe.

The equation in my avatar is another example, where it makes me stare at it and just marvel at the amazing way those values I learned in a completely abnormal way fit together.

I actually produced a set of numerals for my girlfriend (who is dyslexic btw) in which I tried to express the raw beauty I see in my mind regarding mathematics.

It gives me a euphoric stim sensation just manipulating them in my head, did the same for her, where arabic numbers are just arbitrary labels representing the pure values, a deliberate encoding of the pure values produced something which I can only describe as beautiful.

Oh, and static channels on TV.

When I cross my eyes slightly to focus past the screen, then relax just a little, I see images shimmering across it which look exactly like simulations of the large scale structure of the Universe.

Image

Which is quite beautiful, incidentally.

Interesting tidbit:

at any given instant at least a few white dots of static on the TV screen are from the cosmic microwave background radiation, the afterglow of the Big Bang. 8O
