That's horrible. Did he really say that in front your teachers? These days you'd be taken away from him if he did that.

When I was about 12 there was this 15 year old who made it his mission to make my life a living hell. My father got sick of it so he made me go with him to confront the kids father. The kid's dad screwed up he told my dad "To keep his ret*d on a leash if he couldn't defend himself!" so my dad beat him senseless. It was great, he beat him infront of his door, then down his stairs, and across his front lawn in front of everbody. The cops were called and my dad talked his way out of it. My father did not hate me, he just did not want to have people think of me as a freak, ret*d, or as crazy. My father grew up very poor in West Virgina then moved his family to Buffalo, NY I do not think he was sofisticated enough to handle my problems that is why he thought he could change my behavior.

Well...I don't approve of violence except of cases self-defense or defense of another innocent.

Still...I can't say I feel too sorry for the guy and I understand why your dad did what he did.

If someone said something like that about me or a loved one, i'd be sorely tempted to do the same thing.

My mother threatened to kick many adults' asses for mistreating me. She would have done it too, which is why they stopped messing with me after a visit from my mom. I had enough problems just being me and having a jackass for a dad, and she wanted to keep the BS from outside sources out of the mix. I had teachers who picked on me too- at first it seemed like the problem was me, but soon enough a pattern emerged. Mama worked too hard to tolerate much BS- she didn't tolerate it from us and she wouldn't from people who didn't matter to her for sure!

I was severely bullied for my awkwardness by my first grade teacher...she would call me a little idiot and jerk me around by my shoulders when i didn't know left from right, and would frequently single me out from the rest of the class...perhaps in order to humiliate me into acting normal...but I was so oblivious and unable to conform at that age that it just didn't work...all it did was traumatize me.

If I came home with tales of being jerked around by a teacher my father probably would have gone to jail for what he would have done to the teacher. LoL

I was pretty much in special education classes for most of my school years the teachers would avoid hijinxs like that. I had an industrial arts teacher in middle school who tried to embarrass me into payng attention so I began a campaign of breaking stuff when he was not looking. When he blamed me for it the special education teachers went off on him blaming the normal kids.

I was beaten by my mothers partner (my dad died when I was 2), this man would bully me because I would only watch adverts and the news (5 yrs), and he'd call me Damien (Omen) .

my father didn't know what to do with me other than belittle me and knock me around. he told me to my face that he wished i were somebody else. i couldn't swallow pills until i was an adult, and this also bothered my father who slapped me and told me "if you don't swallow those pills real quick we'll pound 'em up your stupid ass!" i often dreamed that i had a different father. but with my luck, chances were that it would have been even worse with somebody else. my mother had her hands full just dealing with my father.

I had spankings but was never hit in anger
My father would however go berserk and have us up against the wall while he screamed at us with a look of utter contempt and disgust on his face
I was never sure whether he would lose control or not
He seemed right at the edge
This is how I learned how to read body language
I became able to tell when he was looking for a fight just by his posture
He had major AS traits and I realize now how overwhelmed he was with 5 children
He once told me he made a conscious choice to be verbally abusive so he wouldn't be physically abusive
He wasn't always horrible though, which of course made it all the more confusing

I didn't have problems becuase of my Aspergers as such, more about my Tourette syndrome. Although I had suffered from mild tics since I was about 8 years old, they got worse when I was 12. I tried to hide them at first. I remember the first time my father noticed it. We were in the shopping centre and I was suffering from facial grimacing. He said, 'stop doing that'. I didn't know what he was talking about. He turned and said, 'stop pulling that STUPID face'. The problem is, when you tell a person with TS to stop doing a tic, it makes it worse. Needless to say I got a smack when I got home.

It carried on over the years. Dad thought I was misbehaving, whereas it was actually my involuntary movements and sounds making my life a living hell. Whenever I ticced, he would either shout abuse at me or hit me, often over the head. Mum went mad when he hit me on my head but he said, 'my dad did it and it never did me any harm'... really?

When I was 15, I was diagnosed with TS. Dad went around the whole family telling them to ignore my mother who was informing them. Later, aged 17 when I was self-diagnosed AS (and had a rather large group of people backing me up on that), he basically took the p--s out of my mother saying she was just making it all up and I was an attention seeker. They were going through a divorce at the time... maybe that is why. He accepts it now, but still tells me to 'stop doing that' sometimes. Yelling at him usually shuts him up now!

In general, calling attention to tics and pressuring ppl to stop them makes them worse. What a bully, and an uneducated, ignorant, idiotic one at that.

And yeah, I got the physical punishment/beating thing. A lot. I have three kids of my own and I'd rather swallow cyanide than hit any of them.

:? I was beaten by my stepfather because I could never understand whether he was joking or not. He was a very sarcastic man and I never understood his sense of humor. I also was beaten because he said I was 'cheeky' because I always thought I knew everything and most of the time I did. It's all in the past now and I have moved on but it caused me alot of distress for a long time. Respect to all you survivors out there and don't let history repeat it's self if you have children. There are many other ways to discipline a child. Find out what they are. I have a son with Aspergers and a daughter with a few little Aspergers traits. I have never hit either of them and we are all really emotionally close despite each of us loving our own company and past times.

There was very little physical violence in my family, but there was a lot of emotional abuse used to try and make me appear "normal." Among the things they did was drag me to places and events I had no desire to go to. When I was 11 years old, they got on this fixation that I had to not only swim but love it and want to do it all the time, so they'd force me into the pool(even when I had not had any lessons at all) whenever my sister went, and that could be multiple times per day. That went on for 4 summers.

I was often dragged to football games, other school sports, and so forth because my sister wanted to go. I never understood this because she was never forced to do what I wanted to. My parents also had a swimming party for me in 6th grade, after asking me if I wanted one and I said "no." They insisted that everyone swam and loved swimming, so I should too. Never made much sense to me.

They even did this to me in college. My sister was supposed to move out and go to graduate school, but she decided she didn't want to and instead wanted to try and get into medical school. As a result, my parents used the excuse I had to do everything she wanted to do with her so she would feel supported in her desire to go to medical school. In other words, if I didn't go to football games with her, the mall, parties, bar hopping, etc., she wouldn't get into medical school because she'd think she had no support, if that makes sense. They also told me they'd have to put me in an institution if I didn't go out with her because if I stayed in too much my personality would get warped and I would be unable to be around people and wouldn't be able to hold a job or do anything with my life.

Even when I found a few things to do outside the house, this go everywhere with my sister rule applied because according to them, what I did wasn't really going out, if that makes any sense. I wanted a definition of going out, and wasn't given one. The only conclusion I could come to was any activity I engaged in outside of the home, not chosen by and done with my sister wasn't really going out, if that makes any sense.

When she moved out of the house, this nonsense stopped and I was left alone but she moved back in and it started up all over again. What was worse when she moved back in is it was immediately assumed if she's going out I'm going too. I can remember getting into big fights with my parents for not being dressed to go to some party my sister was going to, when I had no idea I was even invited or that she was even going anywhere. They often gave reasons like "You have nothing else to do so go out" or "you don't get out enough." What was supposed to be a good time of my life was totally miserable because I wasn't free to be myself.

She moved out again and it all went back to the way it was. I never quite understood any of it. Once I got my own place, I was free to decide for myself if I was going out or staying in, and it was nice. Hard to believe someone actually had to fight for the right to stay in and not go out.

I hope to one day come to terms with the idea that all they wanted from me was to be a copy of my sister, and me as a person one day, for some unknown reason, just stopped mattering to them. It's a pain I may never get over.

My parents stopped forcing me to go places when I started walking up to people and started to talk about mythical creatures, germ warfare throught the centuries, and what I would do if I became dictator of America, When they walked away or asked to be excussed I follow them talking away the whole time. Even talked to one guy through the door after he locked himself in the bathroom.

My parents were ok, but they didnt really understand about some of the thngs I was having problems with. they thought that the more I was made to do those things i would gain skills and lose fear of doing it.This did not happen and they got angry sometimes, like when i couldnt catch a ball or throw it in a straight line, and the fact that my handwriting was like that of a 4 year old even in high school.

They werent abusive though, they just got angry and couldnt understand. I did find a few of my teachers to be abusive though, many of them yelled at me when I did bad things socially, and I was kept in after school repeatedly because of my handwriting.
