I'd probably come to visit.

This is so tight that someone posted a thread like this!

I just graduated from University & I heard that a lot of people on the autism spectrum didn't like residence hall (dorm) life in college. I lived there in undergrad because I didn't have a car & I could deal with it, but I know others couldn't.

Would you guys like some of these same suggestions for an Aspergers dorm? What do you think college students would need?

My thoughts so far:
1. Single rooms for all students
2, Kitchen with cabinets for each student with those with special diets getting preference for cabinets.
3. Stim rooms that could be monitored by staff (if needed)
4. Study lounge
5. Classroom for students to take special seminars related to AS & college
6. OT room for students who might need OT on campus.

Thoughts?

And is has to rain every other day. *purrs*

FriskeyGirl, can we show up at your beach? I'm thinking it would be neat if we could meet on SL - it would be a start.
I am not proficient with any of this stuff - do you know? Maybe a sticky here re a meeting there? When?

There are two big spiritual things that happen Sat & Sun 1pm PST. I have an idea - what if we invite people with Asperger's to meet us at either of those meetings, or the book club (can't remember exact name) - enough so that a lot of time slots are available - we're not going to make a *schedule*

Should we start a group on SL, that might make messaging easier.

I have no idea what to do except *start* somehow!

Everybody - ideas, please? interested?

I am free all weekend around 1 slt hehe

I like the idea, but I'd want my own. Just my family can live there, or drop in whenever they want. Everybody else calls first. Oh. And I screen my calls too.

I love my alone time and privacy too much to be around anybody too often, Aspie or not.

No way is it raining every other day. It needs to rain EVERY day all winter! But not in the summer.

Every other day during fall would be nice, though.

I want my room to be hidden in the basement behind a maze of communal rooms that become less and less used, with a secret door.

Also, we need everything my old OT had in a big room or three, bright colors, crash mats, swings, jello mountain, trampolines, scooterboards... (Wait a minute. My OT had stuff that was meant to fix the problem I have right now... if I could have precisely identified it back then, and if it had only been convenient for daily use...)

We need a garden. Also, with all those animals, we may as well add a generator and a well and go off the grid.

If I can't have my hidden basement room for whatever reason, I'll take a room in a tower, and a garden on the roof. But I want a suite in my tower. And I want at least one windowless room with a lock on the door (that locks from the INSIDE).

AND WIFI.

And the house has to be full of balconies and windows into other rooms and doors that open onto empty space and hidey-holes (of varying sizes and construction and color and stuff) and secret doors. More than one person could ever know without seeing the blueprints.

Though I hate driving, I love cars and would love to have a track that we could all drive our expensive cars on. I would also love a forest with a river to get lost in. I would love to have GOOD brand stores for clothing, because I hate clothing, but I think it's sort of like art, pretty to look at, and I'm pretty eccentric, and eccentric wear is pretty popular now... Just gotta find the right non itchy clothing! Banana Republica is a good place!

NO WIFI, WE NEED MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY, WHICH IS WIFI SORT OF, BUT WAAAAAY AWESOMERR. 1 GIGABIT UNFILTERED, UNREGULATED, UNMESSED WITH CONNECTION EACH!

If there are rooms with windows, they need decent curtains for people who need to block out the light completely at times.

This is a place I would love to go to. I'm tired of living in this dungeon place broken down. It's hard for me to love to clean this house on top of my lovely broken executive function. I would love to live in this place! Don't forget the Roland Fantom G8s, the Sennheiser HD800s/650s, the Akai AP40! Awesome for music making! AND I HATE APPLE, SO INCLUDE AWESOME NON-APPLE RELATED ITEMS. ;D I don't hate the people, I hate the 'game'.

The main point is, we are going to have whatever each of us wants. Not all at once because that will be enormous. But we can have a place where it rains every day *and* a place where it never rains. We need to think inclusive, not exclusive. Whatever is my/your dream place, that's what we can make. Just not tomorrow afternoon, y'know?

This is going to sound strange to you all but I had a dream when I was 18. This is what happened. I was kicked out of my parents home and ended up on the streets. By the way, I did not know I had AS until I was 29. Anyway, I found other homeless people and they were like me. We began discussing things like we do on wrongplanet and other forums. We discussed our values, beliefs, thoughts, hopes, dreams and wishes. We each told our stories of how we were ostrasized by mainstream society. This is exactly like what we do on wrongplanet. After that, we finally came to the conclusion that most people would not accept us and we decided to form our own society. We picked Central Europe as our location to set up our village. This is the really strange part. I was lifted up in the air and a loud and thundering voice said this to me. I was told that you and people like you are not going to make it here. It said most people will not accept you and will cast you out. It told me that I was to help construct and build a new society for those like me. It told me this would happen in some form.

Do you all want to know the really strange thing? This is actually happening in some form. I do believe in this dream there is alot of symbolism to it. I thought it was poppycock myself but I am seeing things unfold here that I thought would never come true. AngelRo, do you have any explanations? Does anyone?

That's an amazing dream. Carl Jung said that a voice in a dream was very important. Another thing he believed is that the dreamer is right, about his own self. Dreaming about others is projection - can you remember the others in the dream? They might be parts of you.

The reason that I went to Second Life in the first place was that I read that social skills can be learned there, that some scientists had accepted that.

This is so exciting!

A HUGE place with meerkats all over the place. Instead of lions on the steps, there would be meerkats. I'd even have live meerkats runing about. I'd dress them up in diamond and rhinestone collars and give them huge sandboxes to dig in and acres and tall posts to climb and and several acres of enclosed (so nothing could get them) of outdoor area to play in. A posh palace for meerkats. Better than any zoo.
