Dogs are typically more "outgoing"/social animals so I don't why I like them so much more than cats. Probably because I find them cuter and smarter and more loving (no offense to cat-lovers, just from personal experience I prefer dogs!)

I like dogs, but where I live, people own lots of the more highly-strung breeds, and they don't train or socialise their dogs. These dogs are scary.

A cat is a cat. They have their own personalities, but it's not entirely due to how its owners interact with it. A dog is more what you make it, and I've seen more people do a bad job than a good one.

Cats are predatory and they manipulate humans, but I find them cute, nontheless, so neh :P

I'm also oversensitive to dog barking noise and don't like things that run at me.

Voted cats.

Those are real books... :D

I guess being an ADHD Aspie it's no wonder I can't choose between the two. xD

Though my current dog is a bit... off the stereotype. She acts like a cat sometimes. D: And sleeps all the time, until someone rings the door bell or she's having fun in the backyard.

The cats are mysterious-ness... >:3

Cats. They seem more laid back, and I like the massaging thing my cat does on my belly.

Well, obviously for me it's dogs.

I get along alright with cats, but I have problems reading their body language. And also, cats will always stay somewhat aloof. They will ALLOW you to pet them when THEY feel like it.

A dog on the other hand can be a true member of the family. I think dogs are more like us humans. They like to live in groups, they tend to stick to rules and they show their emotions in a way that's easy to interpret for me. I'm not into that "You-can-train-dogs-so-you-can-really-dominate-them!"-thing, I just think their way of interacting makes it easier for me to interact with them.

Of course I voted for dogs.
They are my obsession. They are alway loyal, they don't care about social rules or manners.
They love you without caring if you are ''normal'' or not.
And I feel so much safer with my little doggie.
He also helps me socialize with other dog owners, occasionally, they start talk to me and I feel much less nervous if I can talk about dogs ( still very nervous and I still can't read body language very well but its better than nothing)

I voted cats, I love 'em. Dogs are, as some people said, a little too social for me.
But then again my parent's have a tom cat, and we're always joking about how you could have bred a "dog-cat" with him. He needs a lot of attention and prefers to be in company.
The other cat, however, is just a very typical cat, very wild, proud and with an own mind, she's much more independent.
I'm afraid, though, that none of them is that intelligent. I still love them to bits, of course.

About this thing that cats are "sadistic":
Cats are carnivores that hunt their prey. Their instinct tells them that they need to hunt in order to stay alive, and that they are domesticated doesn't change anything about that.
The difference about a cat living in the wilderness and a cat that's a pet is simply that one cat usually is hungry and the other one is usually not.
So the pet cats are faced with the dilemma of not being hungry but still wanting to hunt. And furthermore they usually live in areas that make it difficult for them to catch anything at all.
So when they finally catch something, they're delighted to actually HAVE caught something, but they aren't hungry. So there's no need to kill it at once, and if they finally have a "toy" they want it to last. So they play with it.
A hungry cat that eats it's prey, ot a cat with plenty of prey to hunt will not play much, unless it's a female cat teaching her children.

Dogs, I love all the labradors I've had. I've never been without a dog in my life.
