I like old people and I like kids, around the age of 8.

I can't get on well with people in between.

I basically agree that you can't really say you like 'all kids' or 'all old people', but i do think people form general preferences for certain age groups. as for me, i wouldn't really say i have a preference, old people who aren't boring/conservative are awesome though. think of the grandpa in the Disney movie Johnny Tsunami, that guy was kick-ass!

If the elder is a wise silly old guy. like Miyagi-Sama, then yes.
If the elder is a angry ignorant idiot like say one of the Immortals of the Communist Party, then no.

Old people often stink.
If I can stand this, it depends: I don't like aggressive religious fanatics. Some old people in PL are fanatic, we call them Moher Kommando. I keep myself away from them.
If somebody's brain still works good and s/he knows many things and has many stories to tell, it's nice to spend time with him/her.

I have alays got on better with older people. My best mate is 76. Her interests and mine are very similar.
What I appreciate about older people is a common lack of caring about their "image" and being therefore more up-front an direct, and their experience of life. I once had an acquaintance with a 97-year-old woman who was a British war nurse during World War 2. She had some amazing stories.
