Can a diagnosis of AS hold you back?
This was a very interesting post. I have been considering the same as of late. The official Dx has it's appeal in a sense and some sort assistance and support regarding my desire to go to college would be invaluable at this point I think. I can offer no advice but I can relate. I wish you all the best!

I will be honest as my diagnosis of Asperger's relates to me. Not having the diagnosis of Asperger's held me back. Getting a diagnosis of Asperger's has been positive for me.
Up until 2008, I knew something was extremely different about me. I was unsettled in many aspects of my life. But after getting diagnosed with Asperger's in 2008 and realizing what it was that was different about me, I celebrated. I adopted the personal motto, "My journey has just begun," as showing that I felt reborn with a happy fresh outlook on life. I was now discovering who I was and how I operated.
I don't hide my Asperger's diagnosis with my students (I am a gifted intervention specialist in a public high school), co-workers, church family, family, etc. I have not had any negatives as a result of disclosing my Asperger's.
