I used to suck my thumb until I got into first grade and the kids started teasing me about and singing "Baby baby suck your thumb, don't forget your bubblegum!". At which time I stop doing it altogether

I've always had a habit of biting my nails; I used to have a habit of sucking my thumb, but that was only until I started maybe 1st grade; I still bite my fingers quite frequently, however, and it is sometimes my thumb that I bite, but simply sucking my thumb is boring now.

I did when I was a young kid. I also used to wet the bed if that's relevant.

I never sucked my thumb, even as a baby. But my mum says that I somehow taught myself how to bite my nails at age 1, and I did it ever since. I don't do it because of nervousness, though. I do it because I cannot bear to have long nails or even regular-sized nails, but I hate the feeling of filing them down. It's also time-consuming, next to having to shave armpits, legs and God knows where else every single week.

I'm 30 and I still suck my thumb. I did try to stop, but it didn't work. I still sleep with a cuddly toy I've had since I was 4 too..

Yes, I'm an adult and suck my thumb, usually upon sleeping but also while driving and sometimes randomly. I've discovered that it's a lot more common than most assume. I've had 2 girlfriends who did also, admitting it to me after they saw me do it.
My teeth are bucked but I just consider that as part of the habit and, actually, more of an accommodation, making it more comforting.

No, not even as a baby or child. I used to suck my teddy bear's nose, but ew not any more.

My NT brother sucked his thumb right up til he was about 12-13. He stopped doing it in front of people, but nobody would ever know if he still sucks this thumb when alone in his room in bed..

Though I chew on a lot and bite my fingers and hand from time to time, I have never sucked my thumb....and yet, I've always wanted to, but it just doesn't feel comfortable to me. Is that weird? :?

I have never sucked my thumb and I was told that I would spit a dummy/ pacifier out.

However, I was apparently seen sucking my thumb in utero during an ultrasound, but never after I was born.

I sucked my thumb till I was almost 10, got the buck teeth to show for it. Parents tried to get them fixed with braces but the dentist was a douch, left me in more pain and with other dental issues instead of better looking teeth. I still have one of my blankets that I have had since I was a toddler, I use it to cover my eyes at night so I can sleep, very much a comfort thing, cant sleep at all without it. Also helps block out the light from the police scanner that runs all the time and the night light so I dont hit something and fall. Dodger

Okay I will confess. Sometimes I curl up in a fetal position and suck my thumb when I'm going sleep, usually when I'm feeling bad.
