How old were you when you learned to read?

I was 3. When I started school I was made to read to the class.

I only learn to read at 6/7 years old.

@ 3- 4, I recall trying to pronounce the word " BUICK." I would read the radio buttons as there were (obviously) 5 buttons for 5 letters for 5 preset stations in the car.

I would say "BUCK" and trying to swing the I in there somehow ..... I knew it belonged because it was there. It was a '66 Buick.

I learned to read when I was in 3rd or 2ed grade.

I don't remember being unable to read, for the most part. I remember the frustration, but it didn't last long. I was around three or four when I could read.

I learned to read at 2-3 years.

I'm not sure when exactly, but I remember when I was in my first years of elementary school I was reading (and understanding) material that was far beyond anyone's expectations.

I remember reading cartoons from books when I was 3.

My first memory of being able to read was at 4, but I was probably 3 when I first learnt. I remember someone commenting how cute it was that I was looking at a book as though I could read it, and I remember being quite annoyed, because I really was reading it. My parents bought me a computer when I was five, and I had no trouble understanding the manual.

My dad taught me how to read before I started school. I went to school when I was six, so I was either five or six. I never read books with pictures, thought they were for children ( ) but went straight to adventure books like The famous five. I remember being very excited about knowing how to read, it opened a new world to me and I read all the time.

My dad gave me The Hobbit to read on my own when I was 5, so I probably learnt at around 3 or 4?

No older then anyone else, although when I started reading, I progressed very quickly.

I'm not sure when I started reading, but I do remember I was able to comprehend weather charts in newspapers around the age of 5. My family also told me that I was able to write my name at around 18 months.

I was 3.

I was 87 when I forgot how to read.

My mum told me that I wasn't particularly interested in reading until a little while before I started school (age 4, I was pretty much the youngest in class due to the date of my birthday), but once I showed an interest I learned very quickly.

I am still not particularly interested in reading. I'd much rather be doing and experiencing.
