i often laugh internally
A lot of the time i just smile. and make a sort of 'heh' noise- mainly because i recognise the need to express amusment to people and know that that's what they expect when someone finds something funny. i don't think that's a natural reaction, more a learned one.
Then other times i get a bit hysterical. that's never attractive, but usually quite quiet too i thinkk

When I'm laughing hardest, it's silent; my body just shakes, and the only sound is my epiglottis opening and closing. Casual laughing just sounds awkward. I usually only make noise while laughing when I'm alone and nobody can hear it.

I laugh when I'm nervous or feeling awkward and don't know what to say. That gets me into trouble because people think I'm not taking them, or the situation seriously. Sometimes I laugh at myself or jokes I make to my family (although no one else seems to find them as funny as I do) and I can't stop until I start to cry. The best laugh is when I'm feeling very happy.

Many different ways.

Sometimes like a snoring / snort in the upper back of my mouth, tongue pressed to palate.

Sometimes as a single big HA! that rises in pitch with a slight fall at the end.

Sometimes as inhaling the word "he" a few times (loudly)

Sometimes as inhaling the word "eh" e few times (quietly)

Sometimes as a falsetto "heh heh heh" many times, very fast, with shaking of the gut and shoulders and many changes in pitch, often punctuated with tears

Most of the time I do a short giggle, often followed by an involuntary snort. If I find something really funny, I find it incredibly hard to stop laughing. I sit there making a noise that sounds like a cross between a goat, a seal and a witch, which is interrupted every so often by an involuntary snort. And then after a few minutes my eyes start watering and it trails off into me just sitting there wheezing and doing the occasional involuntary snort. Once I calm down, it's likely that every few minutes for the next hour or so, I'll remember what I was laughing at and do the first kind of short laugh I mentioned. Since I find it hard to control my laugher, I sometimes have to actually force my hand into my mouth to muffle the sound if I'm laughing at an inappropriate time.
