I hope that your daughter posts more often. I understand where you are coming from now. In today's world it really is important to learn internet skills in general. WP seems a lot more civilized and friendly than a lot of other places. It is interesting how often I misinterpret things online (like this thread for instance) and in real life. I am glad to see follow-up posts to clarify things.

Anyway, I find Wrongplanet is...a forum. I don't know, it's kind of depressing here compared to lots of other forums. Me personally, back when I got into forums online at like age...12-13, I stuck to forums about things I liked, like anime at first. I sorta recommend that, find forums about stuff you like, and post and share knowledge.

I think it's almost wise of you to not socialize online, lots of people get very sucked into an internet world of socialization and then don't socialize with real people. There's a time and a place for online socialization, but it can become too much. Plus, people can be vicious/stupider online than they are in real life with their words, so keep that in mind.
