aspergers character on glee, anyone else offended?

People say something is made up when they fail to understand it themselves. "If I can't define it, it must not be real."

I also have fibromyalgia. I've been called a faker for over 20 years. It's hard because I certainly know my pain is real even if others can't see it.

No. Someone else could find it within you. I believe the majority of people diagnosed with AS (all of them, not just the ones here) did not identify it within themselves before they were diagnosed.

Not in all cases. I was diagnosed in the 1990s when less was known about asperger. My parents didn't know what it was. You can't diagnose yourself if you have no idea what to diagnose yourself with. There was no internet in every home at the time.

I have never watched Glee aside from a few clips on youtube just now with this new girl.
And from what I've seen, I want to watch that show even less than the little I have wanted to see it.

It is kind of obnoxious. The recent portrayals of aspergers in the media have not helped. I really looks as if the media is mocking the syndrome. If this character really has AS or is just using it as an excuse of some kind doesn't matter. It's just going to set up a negative association in the minds of the viewing audience. It's more bad PR for AS.

It was bad enough when they did the usual disability crap--putting a non-disabled guy in a wheelchair with handles and making him yearn to walk? Not cool. And then portraying that coach as being unusually nice because she likes her own sister (who happens to have Down syndrome, so that makes her a saint for voluntarily interacting with her).

And now they have to pick on Aspies.

This isn't realistic. Self-diagnosed Aspies don't act like this. Nor do professionally diagnosed ones, for that matter.

I am literally praying that this show takes a nosedive and that the people responsible for producing it are relegated to shooting infomercials.

After that video I definitely don't like her. She seems to mainly say, "*insert insult here* Sorry. Asperger's" which is not how Aspies are, self-diagnosed or professionally diagnosed.

Found this really annoying when glee is supposed to be about accepting everyone it made me wanna stop watching it, It could be raising awareness but instead it's making people with aspergers look stupid.

I thought GLEE was cancelled, wtf? It's back, like a poltergeist. It knows what scares ya. Wasn't X Factor supposed to replace GLEE or did the gleeks interfere?

I don't think she's said it nearly enough or that she's popular enough of a character for something like that to happen.
