In my opinion, South Park.

Not only is it hilarious, but it touches controversial issues. It's a wake-up call to society.

I don't like south Park enough to put it on a list, but I must admit that its willingness to tackle any issue with the grace and tact of a deranged rottweiler on PCP sets it above many other "socially conscious" shows. I can't say I agree with every stance they've taken-- I particularly disliked the way they handled hate crime legislation-- but I definitely have a lot of respect for them.

(Since I've listed something I disliked, I feel obligated to praise them on the euthenasia episode, where they called Jesus, who responded with "I'm not touching that one.")

Also for the list.... Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, and all the WB/DC Cartoons (Batman, Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited).

star trek ( all except the last series enterprise which were c**p TNG DS9 were the best.)

St. Elsewhere kicked butt on every TV cliche ever invented. Groundbreaking.

Green Acres was bizarre beyond bizarre.

The Addams Family never had a bad episode. Loved Morticia.
