I've been to three concerts. Two were black metal concerts, and one was a rap concert. The "Ice Cube" rap concert was the most recent one last year. It seemed more laid-back than the other concerts I've been too, and the bass wasn't quite as loud either. That was a surprise since rap usually has way more bass than metal.
Anybody else been to rap concert? Seems like most only go to metal/pop-rock concerts. lol

Kinda funny. These days I listen almost exclusively to classical music, but back in the day, most of the bands I saw were punk or metal. I've seen Rush, KISS, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Switchfoot, System Of A Down, Blue Oyster Cult, Zebra, Plasmatics, The Exploited, Def Leppard, Bryan Adams, The Police, etc.

I still haven't completely gotten used to it. I've been to many concerts (mostly rock music) and I have to say, it takes a very long time to adjust to that level of noise and being crowded. It does also depends on the venue.
It is intimidating at first, but I after a while, your brain just goes "f**k it" and you get carried away with what is all around you (or at least that's what happens to me). I usually get very exhausted after a concert because I'm usually jumping around like a moron. I'm surprised I was able to jump for that long, tbh.
I think you have to really want to see that band to be able to put up with the other stuff. That's why I don't think I could handle it now - there aren't many bands that I would put myself through all that just to see.

Yes, the idea of going through all that for a band I didn't enjoy would become a nightmare I think.

I have friends who are very good musicians and when they are local I always go to their live concerts, but they are careful to put me in just the right seating so I have plenty of space and don't get crowded, since that will overwhelm me quicker than anything. People check in with me frequently and make sure I'm doing okay.
I also take earplugs of a sort recommended by my musican friend that are permanent two-piece earplugs (not the foam throw-away sort). If you put in one part it only blocks general noise and lets conversation through and muffles ambient noise and makes things like concerts much more easily enjoyed...movies too. There is a second cyclinder piece that can be inserted that blocks much more noise if the first piece isn't enough.
I can't seem to find the ones I use (they are several years old) but these are similar and may be better than mine:

I have some issues with other sensory things but concerts have always been something I love. I'm a huge metal head and I've been in plenty of pits. Nothing violent just a ton of people smushed together like sardines push up against the barrier listening to the music.
I've seen In Flames, Slayer, Manson, Arch Enemy, Opeth to name a few. There's nothing about them that I don't like besides the smelly pits of the 1,000 people around me.

I go to gigs all the time. I've seen Bombay Bycicle Club, Little Dragon, Kasabian, The xx, Minus the Bear and King Krule so far this year.
If it's at a relatively smaller venue and the fans seem mature enough I'll try to go near the stage, but if I know for sure there is gonna be a mosh pit, I'll stay far behind or even go up on the balcony.

In the past I saw Elton John play at an outdoor open arena in Europe and it was great. It wasn't too loud or obnoxious with drunk people. I used to listen to Elton John music all the time when I was 12 and 13 years old. In the U.S. I have seen two outdoor concerts and neither was too obnoxious except I thought could maybe smell cigarettes or the funny cigarettes at one.

I hate gigs. I have been to everything from the police and fleetwood mac to bloc party and foals to unknown bands types of gigs so i have given them all a chance. The young crowd gigs are vile disgusting places filled with drunks, perverts and idiots. The older crowd gigs are nicer but generally quit packed and still pure annoyance with drunks, perverts and idiots still being there just to a lesser degree.
Being on stage is horrible to, I pretty much quit music because i couldn't stand playing gigs, but that story is to long and involves alot of swearing.
To sum up, music is lovely but I would rather buy a nice pair of headphones and listen to it on my laptop than go to a gig.

I went to a festival (the joy of living where I do!) and whilst I was concerned I wouldn't be able to cope, I did. There were some idiots there, but I coped with them, and the noise wasn't unbearable.

The closest I have ever come to a live concert was seeing Les Miserables at the Boston Opera House in March. As soon as I heard the first note of the opening music I jumped so high in my seat that people turned to stare at me. If I have trouble tolerating shows filled with beautiful, operatic-style music, I seriously doubt that I would enjoy the sheer chaos of a concert (most of my favorite bands are pretty raucous even on CD).

Yes I think I would enjoy this kind of concert as long as it wasn't too crowded. I like folk and country music too.

I have been to a couple of concerts that I enjoyed. Bob Dylan, for instance was a sit-down concert which I loved. Neil Young was great partly because I like his music a lot, and partly because it was open air so it wasn't so claustrophobic. I would really love to go to more sit-down, quiet concerts. I think that's my type of concerts. I know I would have those types of concert if I ever where to put up a concert. It won't happen but one can always dream...
On a related note; a Norwegian artist, Susanne Sundfør recently had a concert. At the end she said something along the lines of "thanks to all of you who were listening. All other can go home and eat their own s**t." Not the most civilized things to say, but I completely agree with her. The concert was in the town I live in, so I kinda regret that I didn't go.
