Thanks for the link. The ironic thing is the most studied item B-6 I have taken mega-dose of it back in 1992 when I ran several miles a day. Why I remeber is it has a diuretic effect and half-way through my run I had to urinated like no tommorrow.
Can not remember what effect it had though I was taking it because it was report
to improve depression by promoting neurotransmitter metabolism. Must not been to
good because I hit rock bottem by 1993 and went to a doctor for depression.

I read later at college maybe about 94-95 that the enzyme need to convert B-6
to pyridoxal-5-phospate maybe missing or impaired in some people so I located
a sublingual b-complex that had it 20 mg(I'm reading one of the bottles I still have the
expire date has rubbed of it)The direction said take 2 -3 tablets daily so that would be a total of 60 mg I may have taken daily of the more potent P-5-P and I do not remember it having any effects(I just open the bottle the tablest look molding!) Any
way I have researched supplements and tried them.

Alpha lipoic acid mention by the poster took it in large dose for atleast a year to help
remove lead from my brain. I have mentioned that on past post. I noticed it reduces
the need for sleep. I think it helps stablize sugar to so I would take it daily if I had
unlimited money.

Tried Idebenone, DMAE, mega dose selenium (lead detox), DMSA (lead detox), Zinc
,Pycnogenol, dl-phenylanine, l-tyrosine, l-tryptophan (I have 25 kg of it), Inositol,MSM,
apomorphine, l-arignine, oral sodium edta, niacin, l-gultamine, n-acetylcysteine,
these are just things I still see bottles of!

This thread is absurd. And the most absurd (yeah right, go ahead and point out that absurdity is binary ) about it is that Ticker is probably right.

everyone should be diagnosed if they fully believe they have the "ability".

This thread is also the reason why those evil "neurotypicals" write such nasty stuff on Urban Dictionary. You guys are idiots.

Besides, I never claimed to be "self-diagnosed".

Last time I looked that is fuelled by other reason's mainly people not knowing what they talking about.... or they would add self-diagnose in the insult or along that line...

Your a Liar and a troll because I searched everybodies member name on that list
and yours said asperger , un-diagnosed (which I define as self-dx) . You now have changed your profile to say neurotypical. Let me guess you had to be the one who
voted to deny un-dx aspies WP access.

I think most self-diagnosed should see a doctor and be formally checked and tested. It took a while for me to be diagnosed and I was originally diagnosed as ADHD. Turns out my case is Asperger's Syndrome the ADD without the H.

Technically, I’m not AS. A diagnosis of AS requires a positive score on at least 3 of 6 parameters. I only get a positive score in one (social), but I score at the top of the scale. I don’t need a diagnosis for anything. AS just gives me a vocabulary for describing my weirdness. It also explains why I was such a weird little kid.

If you feel like you fit in here, then you fit in here. If you read other people telling your story here, then you belong. If you find this site helpful, then you should certainly make use of it.

MrMark, you have just hit the nail on the head.

I came to this site (and several others) on a quest for a friend. She had people saying they wanted her tested for Asperger's (in order to force her to have her child adopted) and she wanted me to look it up so she could point I was *astonished* to find how many of the symptoms applied to me. When I finally plucked up the courage to register here, I found so many posts that could have been written by me, so many people talking about issues that I had no idea might be part of AS that related to me. Coming here was a great help and it was such a relief to know that I was not alone-much that I had thought perculiar to me other people experienced and knew about, many others were seeking answers and coming to the same conclusions. I was not alone! This, among other stuff I found, prompted me to self-diagnose, and I have since sought-and gained-a diagnosis by a psychiatrist who has experience with ASD.

Thus I would NEVER knock self-diagnosis. I think people know themselves better than anyone else could. I sought a diagnosis because I wanted to know for certain, and it is a relief for me to finally find the "why" of so much painful experiences in my life-the bullying, the lack of frienbds, the reason people turned away from me, found me odd, disliked me. "WHY" was a questuion I asked a long time ago as a tearful child, and to finally find the answer is so liberating.

Okay, maybe the self-diagnosed haven't got a proffessional saying they have AS, but neither do any of us have the qualifications or the knowledge of them to say they do not.

*pales* This reply has gotten bigger than I anticipated. That's a problem I have, waffling on.

What I find amusing is the idea that a professional diagnosis is more reliable than a self diagnosis. Maybe in a perfect world, it would be, but the world we live in, if the psychiatrist/ologist tells you you have a disorder, they can then sell you all kinds of meds, and/or bring you back for more costly "treatment". I believe that in many cases, what we have here is the medicalisation of personality. I'm sure there are some genuine cases of Autistic Spectrum Disorders, but I strongly doubt the frequency is anywhere near as high as is claimed.

That being said, why would you deny anyone access to this forum? Like various people have said, if you find it helpful, and applicable to your life, why not use it? And if you think you're more Aspergic than someone else who posts on here, why would that bother you?

It requires zero self confidence because there is no intrinsic value in knowing
if you have aspergers. If you lived your entire life being gay and never heard
the word homosexual would it make any difference?

GOOD POINT! The ONLY difference knowing will do for me is:

I will STOP trying to change, and accept it. Had I done this a decade ago, my life would be VERY different.
I will try to revert changes(I was going to anyway, besides, I was happier then). Hey, I even require less sleep, like before. NEAT! 8-)
I will try to meet others. I never knew you guys existed!

Additionally, this may be the only support/resource available to the self-diagnosed.

If your goal is to have a label you can call yourself, then go get a diagnosis. I, myself, do not care. Sometimes I think that I'm not even aspergers but I just have a lot in common with them, in fact, maybe more then some of the people here. After talking to a fellow "loner" I realized that there are a few reasons I dont talk or make friends;
1) Trust issues. People lie all the time and talk too much. Is this a social thing or the fact 'people lie' thing? Is only wanting the truth a 'symptom' of a condition?
2) Social chit chat - I dislike talking about myself. Is this my brain forbidding me from doing it or logic dictating that talking about myself is pointless and unrewarding for myself and others. I do not follow it, at the same time, however.
3) I can be alone all I want. Do I need a 'condition' for that to happen or a strong mind? Is a 'strong' mind a condition?

Whether I actually have aspergers or not, doesnt really matter. The point is, I come here and have very interesting conversations. There are many things that I 'nod to' in agreement (such as inability to 'read' people) then there are many things I dont such as 'sucking at sports.' Its all relative - no 2 aspies are alike so comparing yourself to another is like comparing yourself to a 'pear.'

I have a lot in common with someone who is a monk and a lot in common with someone who is aspergers. Are they the same? Is a loner the same as an aspergers "sufferer" or CAN they be the same? There are no 'definates' but there is what you know you are. I'm highly self aware and know what I can and 'can't' do. I do believe that I'm at least a bit 'aspie' (and online scores I've done have been higher then some of the diagnosed here) but who is to say those who scored lower then me are even aspie THEMSELVES! Many people here post how their doctors dont know anything about AS or are ignorant towards what they do know.

Look, its just a label or a "class" and this world would seriously be better without labels. If I had it my way, I'd get society to drop the labels and just acquire the one; human.
