Is stimming a "normal" aspie practice?

Most of my life I was told to stop doing what I now know is called stiming. For example: "stop tapping your foot!".Now that I am by myself more and I read all about it,I'm starting to do things that even I consider weird.I've recently "caught" myself hand-flapping,foot-shaking and whistling songs that I don't even like.I find it very relaxing and I don't intend to try and stop myself anytime soon.

Personally I never understood the enjoyment people get from hand flapping. That’s the only aspie trait I find really annoying.

I blink a lot and sway when I’m setting in a seat or pace when I’m standing. I also chew on fabrics constantly.

I use to shake my legs a lot when I was a kid and my grandmother would scold me and tell me that the inability to sit still was a sign of insanity.

I've just noticed that in addition to my other stimming habits and this only happens when I'm on the computer, I tend to tap my index finger against my teeth. I have no idea why!

A few years ago, I would constantly have a tennis ball with me to throw up and catch repeatedly for a very long time. Now, I do a lot of rocking and drumming with my fingers as well as throwing a pencil up in the air, spinning it, and catching it on its landing. Occasionally I will also shake my foot.

When do I not stim?! My most common stims when upset are rocking (both back-and-forth and side-to-side; it changes) while squeezing my temples with my palms, wringing my hands, rubbing my arms, moving my thumbs in-and-out of my palms, digging my fingernails into my skin, and stroking something (like a blanket) between my thumb and index finger. I also rock when I'm tired, and I even do it mildly when I'm sitting forward in a chair. For stims that I do all the time (not just when I'm not upset), I talk to myself and walk on my toes. I heard these were both stims. I never thought I did the stereotypical hand flapping, but I recently noticed that I do tend to mildly flap my hands when something bad happens unexpectedly and I'm frustrated. It's usually when I think something's wrong with my computer...
