Agreed a diagnosis is for everyone as is this site. No matter of age or any other defining feature. Most of his posts have been rude today for some reason. Oh well we can just blame that on hormones and the process of Growing Up

Pah - my first puter had a 133 processor, 1.5gb HD and 16mb RAM when you were still in nappies :)

WP has old people too because people age in general. Don't worry, you'll be old someday too.

I've been on the internet as soon as it started gaining traction. I am in my 30's, have built computers since I was an early teen, and designed Star Trek fan websites before paramount touched the interwebs.

MS-DOS was great. None of this sluggish image rubbish or a fiddly cursor. I think we had MS-DOS 5.0 .

My first computer was bought in 2001, and it was from 1995. It had Win95 on it, 8mb RAM and an 800mb HD. It had a floppy drive too. It died last year. It was a Compaq Armada 1120 and it had SUCH a cool startup sound! I've been trying to find a youtube video with the sound, but I can't without someone talking over it.

Come to think of it, even though 56k modems were a bloody pain in the arse, they sounded pretty cool when they eventually connected to the internet.

I was sent here by OPs' family to spy and report on every post he makes. I imagine most of the other older WP members are working for OP's family as well. I mean, why else would we be here?

Why not?

For your information, kid, it was people of my generation who invented the Internet, and people of previous generations who invented computers. You, having done nothing to advance the sciences of computers and telecommunications, are now enjoying the fruits of our labors. You're welcome.

Well, you've thought wrong ... again! Adults can, and often do get diagnosed.

In school, learning proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. You might want to give it a try.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Oh my, yes, dearie! I am 39 and so very old. I should be in a rest home right now knitting sweaters in my rocking chair instead of on this thigamajiggy called a com-pu-ter!

Is that what it's called? I'm so glad you told me. I thought this thing I was using was an electric typewriter wired up to a colour TV screen.

I'm not sure if mine is indeed a com-pu-ter. I've been trying to turn it upside-down to see what it says underneath, but my arthritis is so bad that there is no strength in my arms to lift it up.

One of these days I will get one of my great-great-great-great grandchildren to come round and look at it for me. They will be able to tell me if it is indeed a com-pu-ter. I'm sure they can explain it all.

Wolf, Does going through someone's recent posts count as stalking?

I have ranted about this issue in another thread. It's not stalking. When you do it, you're using an in-built search function provided by the forum software. If there were anything wrong with flitering a search to display the posts of a certain user only, such a function would not have been provided.

I think we can feel free to enjoy the full range of useful features provided by this website (and many others) without worrying that we are "stalking" anyone. ;)

Now, quick - let's all stalk the OP and find out if he's always this grumpy!

Didn't need no steenkin' images. We could view our images in lines of code in a dos box

I thought I was the bee's knees when I finally upgraded to 98SE.
Still on XP now - see no reason to "upgrade" to an OS that's designed to look like an ipad.

My 56k modem was excellent. When I upgraded from crappy software internal modems that refused to hold a connection, to a US Robotics external, I knew I had arrived.

Kids today - they don't know what an OS is, and think the interweb is powered by google.
And call a program an "app".

Should that matter?

To make it sound less spiteful, you could have said ''why is WP full of older people?'' I always think of old people as 60+.

Also diagnosises aren't just for kids. People can get a diagnosis at any age.

Actually, I always thought of 70+ as the official "old person" age although people in their sixties sometimes fit the bill if they haven't taken care of themselves.

Wouldn't the startup sound be the basic W95 startup wav?

That's easy to find...

We are not just here to pass along tips on how to find the best deals on adult Depends diapers for future use of our younger members.

We are also here to teach you to belly dance with a sword on your head or to make an entire meal from what you find in the woods, to spin sugar so that it looks like shining, magical, gossamer gold, to tell you the most amazing places in the world to scuba dive, explain how it feels to hold a crocodile, and other boring old fart stuff.

But, like I said before, we are mostly here to share how to find the best deal on Depends diapers.
