I don't know if I get like that, but I do sometimes get embarrassed at a certain song. When it comes on I feel like cringing, even though it is not a cringing song and a lot of people like it. I hear it in my head and get a feeling of embarrassment, a strange kind of embarrassment what I can't explain.

This happens with me.

Also there are certain songs I am sick of because I have been hearing them for decades. Others I get sick of after one or two listens.

I don't think this has anything to do with autism.

I hate hearing the Happy Birthday song. That is a fear.
What's worse, though, is hearing it being played by a 'chip' like one you'd find in a musical greetings card. In fact, any sound played by a similar 'chip' sound makes me feel sick and scared.

I nearly throw up every time I hear "Judas" by Lady Gaga. It's some scary stuff.

There is a lot of music I wouldn't choose to listen to, but what gets me snapping my speakers off is those short introductory melodies often used at the beginning of a program. The TED talks, and the Real News are particularly grating. The short jingles that CBC has instead of long adverts are still reason enough for me to avoid it.

I am not able to listen to most of the pop music from many generations. This summer I that Robin Thicke Blurred lines garbage was driving me insane, seriously. The singing range and style that appeals to most now is like a dentist's drill in your ear as someone else mentioned. So many songs these days sound out of tune.
