Theology and morality? Even for a priest, aren't those daunting? Not exactly black and white.

There's more black and white to it than you might imagine, and even where there is some diversity of opinion there is a very tight logic to it all. Theology, strictly speaking, is a science, with the data being Divine Revelation and Church Tradition. Morality also is very clearly defined with very little wiggle room.

Now this is an interesting topic, but we're in a thread about refrigerators!

My last therapist told me not to think in black and white but in color. Then again, he disagreed with a whole bunch of Church teaching, not to mention he terrorized me for a year. I'm fine with black and white, thank you. I embrace my Aspie rigidity so that I can rigidly love people.

I want a top of the line sub-zero side-to-side refrigerator with a modern black finish.

"rigid love"? that sounds like the root of a spanking good sermon.

That's a unique kind of sideways way of looking at it, with color. Did he mean that as a metaphor or some kind of reality? I can see why you kind of liked him despite his wicked ways.

What he meant was for me to disagree with Church teaching, in order to embrace life. He wanted me to learn to enjoy travel, skiing, camping, and all the things that make life so "enriching" (all the things that bore me). He wouldn't allow me to question his assertions. He wanted me to appreciate the possibility of gay marriage and other things that had nothing to do with my therapy.

But he was also the one who laughed when I brought up how two of the other therapists thought I was an Aspie. If a life "in color" means looking down your nose on people who don't live like you then I want no part of it, I like predictability. And as a priest, I will not compromise on Church teaching. So black and white is great.

Oh, I thought it had something to do with how you examined information. I see.
Church teaching though, how are you handling Frances with all his changes? That's what I mean about it not being black and white, it's more like fluid (granted with the Catholic Church it's more like molasses, but that's not always bad).

Lol church leadership.

Francis is a breath of fresh air, but have you heard some of his recent homilies? In one about a week ago he said that it's impossible (for a Catholic) to say he loves Christ while disagreeing with the Church's teachings, which he said, are not subject to change. Of course, the media didn't report that. They only report the stuff that makes it sound like he's some big liberal. Not!

Anyway, I hope the O.P. is doing better with the refrigerator.

Didn't hear about that one.
Yeah refrigerators. I'm getting a new one next month. Hopefully it won't be too loud and make me stressed out like the OP. It was really cheap at home depot, which could be a good sign or a bad sign!

Our weather has been so cold recently that we could probably do fine without a refrigerator for a while.

was it turned on at the depot so you could hear it? I dread the day that my icebox goes south, it would be a job and a half to move it out of there.

you mentioned uneven floors so make double sure you get the shims underneath those feet and make it as level as can be.
