I'm talking about paying for everyone with a problem

You're able bodied, you can work a job. Most people wish they didn't have to work, but they got over it and do it anyways. Go work at Safeway or mcdonalds or something.

So what about people with mental illnesses that prevent them from working? Should they not receive benefits to help them pay for their medicines and what not? I think they should. Some people have f****d up mental problems and do f****d up s**t when they're not on their meds. When they do f****d up s**t, people like you start complaining about why they were not taking care of.

I don't know how welfare works in Canada. In usa I think a lot of these people shouldn't be on welfare. I mean they get on welfare and spend that money on crack. then have many babies, get more welfare, and end up spending more of that money on crack.

This sort of thing annoys me.

You think life is meant to be easy? 'I don't want to work a 40 hour week, I'd rather just get the money'. That attitude...it has no place on this Earth. Do you realise that because you'd rather spend your time doing things you enjoy, several more people must give away their money in taxes that they've worked 40+ hours a week doing? Do you think they enjoy that too?

Yes, AS can be a disability, as with anything 'different'. But disabilities can be overcome. It doesn't mean you can just sit there and whine with your hand out demanding money because you're different to other people. As said above - Society owes you nothing. They took nothing from you, you can't just steal from them.

Remember...every scrap of welfare you get has come from someone else's hard-earned wage.

You think work is boring? You don't enjoy it? Therefore you shouldn't have to do it? Welcome to the freakin' adult world, kids. You think just Aspies have meltdowns over the amount of stress one can have forced on them in a job? Think again. I've been reduced to tears in my job several times. I've spent nights puking my guts out from anxiety over work. I've sat in a ball in a corner crying and shaking uncontrollably from work. I've bordered on going insane from the amount of boredom, stress and overload I've experienced while working...but you know what? If you can't handle the jandal, get another job. If you want to grow, you need to harden the heck up and just go with it! I'm still at the job that's done all the above to me...because retreating after one blow never did anyone any good.

Hell, I don't even LIKE my job any more. 60k a year? I get less than half that. Are there things I'd rather be doing? Heck yes...look at that beast in my avatar. I'd rather be driving that around all day! Working on it, modifying it, washing it, you name it...but no, I work 40-60 hours a week instead.

Work is hard. You have to earn your right to continue along on this planet. 'Not one day on this Earth has been promised to you; so make the most of every moment as if it were your last.' Nothing has been promised to you at all...gotta make your own way. No one else was put here for the sole purpose of supporting you.

If you try once and fail, try again. Keep trying and trying until you succeed! There's a niche out there for practically everyone.

And if you spend years trying to climb on the wagon but keep falling off...you've already paid years of taxes. You've been a service to society...you've given your all. You know what? If you've done all this - suffered without success for so long - you're more than entitled to benefits to help you along. After all, you HAVE more than earned it. You tried.

For those of you whining about work not being fun, jobs being boring, not wanting to do a 40 hour week...man up already. We all have to do it at some point. Be glad you have two arms, two legs and an intelligent head on your shoulders! For those of you that have done that - tried and tried and valiantly TRIED but gotten nowhere except further and further into a pit of dispair...you did your best, it's time for society to give back what you gave them

Yes that was one whoop-doozy of a rant...but seriously, this is one of most people's pet peeves. Over this side of the world this is called bludging...and I would prefer to see my tax dollars going into helping people care for themselves, stand up on their own, and push them into the future...not drip-feed them for the rest of their lives. Alternatively, I'm happy to see my tax dollars going into the burns ward at Starship Children's Hospital, or putting up Armco barriers along the side of mountain passes so cars stop falling off the edge. Not supporting someone who can't be bothered working.

i live in england and my daughter gets disability money as she is entitled to it and even if you work you can get the disability money becouse it isn't counted as income.

im applying for disability money for my asthma as i can't walk very far and thank goodness for our national health service they have saved my life many times for free as i think it would be outragious to pay becouse i can't breath.

for the tax payers who like to rant a disability is a difficulty that others take for granted as they don't have those problems.
So please don't rant at vulnerable people in society there are much more serious things in the world without begrudging where your taxes are going

I think its super some people get help but maybe *I* want to help someone else with my money. I only get so much, you know, what about the problems I want to address? Its not like I am living some amazing, fantastic, rich life. So while others may have problems, they don't work. The society that they ask SO bloody much for they don't give back - they just want more.

For those on this, answer me:
How does it feel to not have to work?
Are you going to give back to society for helping you by volunteering your own time to help others who may have similar problems?

As well, please understand its very easy for you to critize but us "begruding" where our taxes go.. that's because you may not pay any.

b) didn't anybody hear me? i did! i worked for 30 years, taxes the whole shtick. it was pure unmitigated torture. no humane system would require that of anybody. where's the cutoff - suicide?

c) i hate it that many people here think there was always help for AS. it wasn't defined until 1994. i worked from 1967 to 1997.

d) not only have i asked docs for help, i've even asked *you* for help and been ignored. i still have a spark of determination going - will you tell me how to learn social skills? because all i can see here is that they're not available to adults.

Do they make people in Canada that receive welfare work? Don't you guys have nationwide health care?

I think they shouldn't give people that are able to work, but too lazy to get off their ass welfare. Specially the ones that have a bunch of kids and keep producing more kids. Also, drug addicts shouldn't receive welfare. I don't feel like paying for someone crack problem. that all they're going to use the money for. I might as well give Crackhead Bob on the street corner my tax money.

I do think that people that have a illness that prevents them from working should receive benefits. I don't mean some minor illness. I mean some severe mental or physical illness or disability.

Wow are you the original poster. I should probably read the first page. I have noticed on this site when you ask something. People tend not to answer it or they start an argument. As in this case, I suppose you're the one everyone is saying that you are lazy. A lot of people on this site a very ignorant, I admit i'm ignorant, but many others won't on here.

This site is a joke. I don't post questions on here looking for meaningful answers from these people. I know I wont get one, so what's the point?

Why are you asking me? I am gathering that you may be the one that Corvus is implying that is lazy. I don't think there is a test for being lazy. I guess lazy is someone that doesn't do anything at because they don't want to. Not because they feel down or anything, just because they don't want to. I don't know

No, I'm not the original poster. Nobody here has specifically called me lazy yet. This is a *great* site. I may not get many answers but I get validation and support. I love WrongPlanet. But when people start pointing fingers, ordering others' lives, I get my back up.

Claradoon, Corvus clearly doesn't understand mental illnesses much. If you have a mental illness I think your government should give you money, as I have posted a few times before in this thread. Corvus just started complaing about how he/she doesn't want to pay taxes towards someone else's welfare.

Claradoon - I think you're a prime example of someone who deserves to get something back. You worked for HOW LONG? Heck, HOW MUCH tax have you ended up paying? Probably more than I've earned in my entire lifetime.

You HAVE given to society, simply by working. You've made employers' businesses move forward because of the work you've done, and in turn they've served others. Your efforts have moved things forward, and in your case to your own detriment You've done something for someone else...what goes around comes around

And in response to being on a disability benefit for something that can literally cripple or kill you - no harm in that. Why would there be? That's what it's there for. If you are prevented from being able to make a living, period...or you're severely held back from doing so...then that's what the benefit is there for.

Not because you can't be bothered working. Or because you don't like it. Or because it's too hard.

I'm twice legally blind without correcting lenses...lose my glasses and you have a classic Scooby Doo scene with me as Thelma hunting around on the ground for my specs. And yes, I've had to go two days without them because the damn things snapped in two. So as far as physical disabilities go...I've had a tiny taste of what it's like. Couldn't see the bus number so I ended up flagging every one that went past down until they were a metre from me (of course I couldn't drive to work, I can't freggin see). I did my work with my nose literally 6 inches from the monitor or closer. I took phone messages with my head almost against the desk. Can I still do my job? Remotely, yes. It's more amusing than anything.

Of course, blindness is very different from a neurological condition. Disability for some, quirk for others. You know - it just makes things more challenging for many. For a small few it IS debilitating...for others, quit yer whinin' and give it a shot for at least a FEW years before you throw in the towel.

More important things to focus on than tax dollar spendage? Of course there is. But it's 500 bucks a month for me, more for others. I would have LOVED to have been able to use that for decent food or fixing an oil leak on my car...but if it has to go to someone else I'd rather they'd 'earned' it so to speak.
