Yes I have a problem with this too, I really wish I didn't because I then get over paranoid about smelly breath. I try really hard to brush at least once a day and I can sometimes manage a whole week of twice a day but I have to force myself. I also have a severe problem with having injections in my mouth, to the extent of having full blown physical panic attacks unless the dentist works really hard at keeping me calm. It is not a problem with having things in my mouth as I have no problem with fillings without injections, and its not a problem with needles as they're fine elsewhere in my body... well maybe not fine but definitely not panic attack worthy.

Brush teeth while conditioning hair. Also gives me an excuse to stay in longer. Like the feeling of hot water.

I definetly have this problem and have posted quite a few topics on it, with me its due to my sensitivity and gag reflex, i'm fine with the dentist though and if i do have to have any treatment i'd refuse unless its under anesthetic

I use strawberry flavoured kids toothpaste as the normal mint type stuff just overloads me too much.

You can brush with baking soda and swish with hydrogen peroxide (spit it out) if you don't like regular toothpaste.

Tom's of Maine tastes less disgusting.

I hate caring for my teeth but I force myself :(.
I

use the Tom toothpaste and like it better then most but hate the gritty after feel of any paste(gels arent as bad to me.)but I am trying to avoid fluoride because of my thyroid...my dentist thinks I am insane but it makes me paranoid.I will eventually have all crowns anyway.....have about 10 now,but they are expensive as most of my 'extra money" goes for my dentist bills.I use to only brush without paste but eventually settled on compromise of "Toms of Maine" and actually love the feel of the Sonic toothbrush I use for about 6 min, before bed. That is about my only set schedule.I hate schedules and seldom look at clocks unless I have to work.

I hear you. I don't really brush my teeth unless I absolutely have to. And yet, people are often telling me how nice and white they are and I've never had a single cavity. Heck, my dentist is even impressed with my teeth! lol Then again, I brush like crazy for the whole week before I go there...

For me brushing my teeth is just a drag. I bought an electric toothbrush a few months ago and now I quite enjoy brushing my teeth. The vibration is kind of stimmy 8)

My dentist tries to do it for me, and I hate that. I do it regularly to avoid painful and sensitive teeth, and strangely enough I love mint toothpaste, but i was on children's for ages. Hate mirrors and floss thoogh , it sticks in the gaps and hurts. My dentist cannot understand why I hate her cleaning them and it is hard to explain adequately. Unfortunately a nice dentist who understood has moved away before I had a chance to change to her. will try sonics andelectrics when i get the chance and money but I have a fear of such stuff.

I'd say the sonic toothbrushes would help reduce the sensitivity though, but they are expensive

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I have two dead teeth and I've never been able to keep brushing a routine. It doesn't help that a dentist I had completely screwed up my teeth. I just can't be bothered. I do brush them when I think of it, but I never have been able to make it a routine.

I only brush Monday-Thursday, and on special occasions.

Once per day, as long as it’s before you go to bed, is probably enough. That’s the only time that I do it, and I haven’t had any more cavities since getting back into it as a regular habit. I also floss, then massage my gums by brushing a 2nd time, then finish up by rinsing with Act.

Brushing used to be a real drag for me, but after meeting several people who had to have all of their teeth removed, I made sure to straighten up my habit. The best thing to do is to take control of it. Buy a different brand of toothpaste than what your parents introduced you to. Many toothpastes are so sweet that they would hurt the roots of my teeth. Tom’s Of Maine feels so much nicer. Another thing that made me comfortable with brushing was to make sure that I only use toothbrushes with soft bristles, and also avoid any that look like medieval weapons.

The only thing now that causes me to not brush is that I’m afraid that I will get hungry while trying to fall asleep. So part of my brushing ritual is having a snack beforehand - usually a small amount of mixed nuts.
