As for my own hair, if I cut it short at the top it will stand up til it becomes long again.

Mine does that too. It sticks up the most at the back around the whorl, and along the part. I put extra conditioner in to weigh it down.

My guess is we have same percentage of weird hair as the general populace, but 1) we are less serious about combing/brushing, and 2) we're more perceptive of hair weirdness.

In my case, I'm slowly balding, even though there is no baldness in my family, and, more interestingly, my hair grows horizontally forward. Even if I comb it down, over the course of a couple hours, it will rotate 90° forward. If I were all bald on top, it would kinda look like I was wearing a crown of laurels.

I've met well over 100 Aspies and in my experience can't say that natural Aspie hair looks any different at all to natural PNT hair. However, sometimes you might encounter someone with messier than average hair, but not that often.

MY hair? That's boring. It's brown and sticks out in the back if I let it grow too long. I have my mother shave off most of it once a month, so I don't have to do anything to make it look presentable. I've got a hat on most of the time anyway.

On the contrary, I am constantly fascinated--and appalled--by what other people do with their hair. I am always very conscious of whether a person's hairstyle "looks right" or not. Some of the styles you see on TV, especially for young men, are just tragic. It's like they all let their girlfriends style their hair. Their EX-girlfriends. Who were mad at them. :? A lot of guys who think they look good bald, really don't. Like George Carlin said, "if you want to be bald, do what I did: wait a while." Speaking of which, when I see a bad comb-over or toupee, I stare in morbid fascination, wondering how the person could possibly think that looks good. I also have yet to see anybody who looks good with a "fauxhawk."

Women are a little better with hair, but they have the odd problem of doing too much with it or not enough. They should have their own style, for sure, but extensions and weaves just seem unnecessary. Long hair is not a must either. I totally understand women who cut it shorter because they don't want to deal with tangles and such. Dye is neat as long as it's tastefully applied--older women who dye it traffic-cone orange or blue-black aren't fooling anybody.

I could go on about NT's hair for hours as you can see.

I don't think this is any physical trait, maybe it's because some of us are bad groomers. My hair never seems to go the way I want it to go, but that's probably because I don't care to spend much time on it like most women do. But I've noticed other women who don't spend a lot of time and effort on their hair have hair like mine.

My hair seems to go like a little girl's hair. Usually when I look at little girls they aren't usually well-groomed unless their parents make a big fuss of their hair. It's because little girls don't spend hours straightening their hair and styling it and spraying it with hair spray and all these other things women do. All this kicks in when girls hit puberty. Then they just start looking really unnatural, like dyeing their hair the opposite to their natural hair colour. I mean, why would you dye your hair jet black when you are naturally blonde and pale-skinned? My cousin does this. She has always been blonde and fair-skinned, now she's a teenager she has dyed her hair completely black, cakes her face in make-up, and looks rather odd because her skin is still pale.

I believe in a thing called ''natural beauty''. I only put lipstick on and a little bit of eye shadow, and my hair is a nice style but I have not dyed it. But I know I look presentable enough. And I have an NT boyfriend who says I am beautiful. I don't need hair dye and thick make-up to prove that.

speaking of bad hair by females, I dreamt I was mrs. doubtfire, and as I regarded my reflection in the mirror [in the dream] I really liked my hair style, which was the only non-mrs. doubtfire part, it was a lovely short female quasi-Sassoon cut but with the hair standing upright somewhat. I used to wear it like that in real life [as opposed to reel life] and it was a relatively mild and carefree style.

I have several very prominent cowlicks in my hair. Made it a real trick to get a good haircut when I kept it short. Only one haircutter could ever get it right, and he really wanted to do something dramatic with those cowlicks, but I would not let him.

I also have an "occipital bun". (A prominent bulge at the back of my head, like a Neanderthal.)

Also, guilty as charged regarding brushing, etc.

RDOS: Have you found out the percentage of NTs who have this trait to compare with your sample of AS people? Maybe it is just very common, but NTs know how to deal with it so it does not look crazy.

I used to have odd-looking hair as a child. I once gave myself such a bad haircut at age 10 that I had to shave my head.

I really wanted long hair--but I couldn't grow it long; it only became thicker. Only in my late adolescence did I look long-haired.

My hair is very wavy, and especially on the sides and back it is actually curly. I haven't cut it for a while, and this is the longest I've ever had it, so I never noticed just how crazy it was. I can easily make it stick out like an afro whenever I want with no gel. I think I got the curliness from my mom, her hair is extremely curly.

if I wanna eat without it getting into my mouth I have to pony-tail my hair. when I sleep I will have to get into the habit of tying it above my head somehow.

same. i've always wanted long, silky straight flowing hair as a kid. when i was in about 4th grade i started to grow it out to my shoulders.
when i reached 6th grade though, my mop reached its peak. it was this incredibly thick, hot helmet of jet black hair that resembled nothing i've ever seen. i don't know how i ever died of dehydration just sweating from all that. greenhouse. ever since, i've been getting it thinned out by my aunt, a cosmetologist, and just now it's starting to resemble something human.

i like it now, when it's super frizzy after a shower (i hate the feeling) i put on a beanie. i cut it myself in the bathroom with scissors sometimes, and i shave my sideburns and a small part of the side of my head whenever i can. i cut my bangs whenever they reach the middle of the bridge of my nose.

i like to wear ponytails sometimes, on the very top of my head. :alien:
