Yes ZanneMarie, it was a weird moment. I never knew my mum kept changing watches. She also did some things that were unsettling to my father and I. There were times when the telephone would ring, and she'd say who it was and what they were calling about.

I don't reacll saying I was in a car when I would do it, either. I wasn't. Yeah, I know all about the random chaos thing and how you tend to make things stand out as some cosmic event with higher over tones. Like I said , it isn't with all of them, but I could pick out the ones that would, with a high degree of being right. Personality disfuntcion my ass. Did the light go out or didn't it? It went out, that wasn't some illiusion that I made up. The damn things went out on a repaeted basis and I attacked the problem with every form of why it wasn't me that I could come up with. Like I have said and others have stated, it isn't just me that does it. I did think for a long time it was just a me thing. It's to cold to trot my butt down to the corner to see if it still does it, not the only one but they're further away and the one I'll go by later has been changed, it doesn't do it anymore. If you're in this to try and make me out as an idiot, you might be able to convince some, I'll just toss you in to the same catigory you might be trying to throw me into  Hey, I'm just an observer. It's something I do very well. I still don't understand the why. Nor do I care very damn much.

I still don't understand why the magnetic field question would be on the Aspie quiz.

Because schizotypal personality disorder would be highly comorbid with ASD. Thinking
magnetic fields effect you or you them is a potential schizotypal characteristic.

Other things on the RDOS's aspie test include social phobia, dyslexia, etc none of which are in the official DSM-IV criteria for aspergers. But RDOS's on research shows
these things are often comorbid with ASD.

Well this is bugging me more than people telling me it happens. Now I want to know what in those darn lights make it do that. I'm going to lunch with some Electrical Engineers I used to work with and let them tell me what it is. As a lot, they aren't really superstitious so I think they can be trusted. LOL

K, thanks, I guess that makes some sense. I sure do know some people that can't wear watches with batteries in them. They appear to be with in the scope of normal, they just get the windup kind. I just passed it off as some kind of interation between body chem and the watch. I answered no to the question.

I don't have a clue why some lights do what they do, I have semi guessed they have a problem in the on and off switch someplace. What about that might set it off in a certian fashion maybe some one has figured out. I doubt they'd let me get up there and tear them apart and see. 8O

I was thinking the same thing Paleo. But, we could get a schematic and see how it works. I'm thinking now that mine is timing because I am very habitual. I'd have to know someone who works with those lights to know for sure.

To me there has to be an explanation. I never thought it was parnormal even if it was creepy when it happened. I get creeped out by spiders and don't think they are paranormal. LOL I think that my brothers teased me about spiders biting me and killing me when I was a kid. LOL In fact, I know that they did. Brats.

Nope, they don't flicker, in that sense. I see light cycle flickering more then most, that is documented, hence the siezure warnings on some games. I would say that most will sit there and dully flicker, but I'm thinking it has more to do with the gases in them still being active and a small amount of current still there, making them semi active yet. I haven't tried to sort those that do from those that don't, like does a mercury based light do it, when an argon won't. I haven't much of an idea what either would look like from the ground. But for general purposes, they be out like a light.

Sounds like some here might qualify to attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Once upon a time long ago, I tried something that was, so I was told, LSD. It left me feeling scared and sick for about 8 hours.

Street lights tend to be low pressure sodium lights or high pressure mercury lights.
Both use mercury and argon if I'm not mistaken.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_vapor_lamp

Quote:
At the end of life, high-pressure sodium lamps exhibit a phenomenon known as cycling. These lamps can be started at a relatively low voltage but as they heat up during operation, the internal gas pressure within the arc tube rises and more and more voltage is required to maintain the arc discharge. As a lamp gets older, the maintaining voltage for the arc eventually rises to exceed the voltage provided by the electrical ballast. As the lamp heats to this point, the arc fails and the lamp goes out. Eventually, with the arc extinguished, the lamp cools down again, the gas pressure in the arc tube is reduced, and the ballast can once again cause the arc to strike. The effect of this is that the lamp glows for a while and then goes out, repeatedly.

More-sophisticated ballast designs detect cycling and give up attempting to start the lamp after a few cycles. If power is removed and reapplied, the ballast will make a new series of startup attempts.

That was for house lights, Machine. I saw one about street lights and it said the ballast overheats and shuts the light down until it cools down. Which makes sense if it's a timing thing, since the go out completely out one after the other then come back on in the same order. If you take me out and strictly look at timing, the lights may be going on in a certain order, overheating at a certain point and shutting down to cool off. Once cooled, they would come back in the same order because the cooling time would be the same most of the time. If that is correct, then it is just a matter of I'm crossing the bridge at the same time every day and the lights are going through that cyle at the same time. To me, that makes complete sense. Timing may have plenty to do with the street lights when I walk as well.

I tried to find it again, but I have to let it go for now. If I find the link again, I'll post it. For my occurence, it made the most sense. I never thought it was hocus pocus. LOL

xavier hollander? WOOT!! were do I sign up.

8 hours? You didn't get your moneys worth, get a refund. Don't do shrooms, they're even more of a head trip then acid. Stick to the buttons next time, way mellower, more of a body trip then a head trip. Just remember to scrape off the fuzzy stuff and a small button can be more powerful then a big one. Size doesn't matter on this one, no matter what the ladies have said about the other size issue. Make a soup and don't do it alone. Actually don't do it at all. Most people don't like that "loosing control" feeling and it can come on very strong. There isn't that much to see that you can't see with out it. It's all in the perspective, that's all it does is show you a different point of view for something that is already there. Changing ones perspective is pretty hard for most people to do, you need a open mind to do that. Leave it for the Native Americans, they know how to do it right.

Actually they're starting to do some serious study of mescaline. The last study I saw, the control group was badly biased. They're interested on why the "religous spiratual feeling" lasts so long after the drug is out of the system. Who knows where it will go.

Ok, that's drug culture 101, chapter 1. Wanna hear some Woodstock stories? Yeah so I was young and stupid, I'm old now and still stupid. Any questions? 8O But not that stupid to go back to all that crap. If you carry issues within you when you try that stuff, it's just going to get amplified, big time. Sick and scared? Yup, pretty intense wasn't it.
