That's an interesting idea. I don't think it would work for me either, though, but I suppose I should try it before saying that. It sounds a little like someone with chronic back pain thanking their back for hurting -- which I guess does kind of make sense if the pain was caused by an injury or condition that could have led to paraplegia instead of just pain, but it's still a strange thing to do. I'd want to thank my legs for working instead of thanking my back for hurting, in that situation. lol.

It's such a waste of a good memory to have to re-live unpleasant events again and again. I know that I have good memories in there somewhere, too. They're just harder to access for some reason...

Heck yes - even had counselling for it.

The counsellor used CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) to help reduce some of my "trapped in a circle" type thinking about painful evenets from my past. It did help.
