Your posts, and many others' here, have certainly made me happier and made me think since I've found this site. So you're not useless. Referencing this and some other recent posts, I'd say that just about anyone can have children, but raising them is a different matter. The world needs people who make it better and help others have happier lives. To me that's more important than shoving more people into the overcrowded space we live in. You are doing the valuable work.

As I am yet to find a use for myself, does that not make me useless by defintion? :? Holy f**k this is coming off as melodramatic. I don't mean it in a depressed way, just realized how it sounds 8O

I think you're useful if you make people happy with your words.

You have a good sense of humor--a very useful attribute, indeed.

Then there are people who create "systems." Some of them are useless in other aspects of things--and refuse to have insight--thereby rendering them frequently useless.

I suppose everyone does play their part in this illusion called reality and if you're happy who can give a f**k? Maybe we have to make life our own. I don't know. Life is confusing. I think it probably is to everyone and we just sort of get along with it in our own way. Just permanently confused? I've never quite got what reality is and how it varies from person to person so much. I guess we should just do what we want and like. I don't know.

I agree that people have to create their own subjective take upon the totality of "reality."

I don't get why though, the whole thing seems very weird. I don't get what reality even is if something that is reality to ourselves isn't to another person. Life is weird.

We seek to make sense of the totality of reality. We use various methods to arrive at our own conclusions. I have found that input from other "seekers" could be just as useful as our own input.

One thing I found odd today was I was at work and I thought the time seemed to fly past but my colleague doing the same job as me thought the day seemed to pass real slow. It's odd because we had different perceptions even though we are in the same place and such.

Been thinking for a long time about what life really is. Humans have complicated it.

I mean, so look at animals. They are born, survive, and sex and babies and die. The point is to live long enough to have babies. The environment around them changes so they have to adapt to fit it best. Only the strongest survive.

Humans are living under a false dome of things they have created and doesn't really matter, right? All this fancy BS and really at the end of the day the point is to find a human of the other gender and f**k it to create children. But you want to find the best one to f**k.

Point of life is... sex? And since I don't want sex I am defective and living in a false reality and using things that have no relevance and my feelings are not relevant to humanity either. So... there is no point in life to me, a defective human.

I dunno. Anything I'm good at is irrelevant so I don't get why I'm alive. Reality is an illusion. Or maybe me thinking that is. I don't know. I just don't really understand anything.

I suppose when you strip it back to the very basics, that's what it originally came down to. But we have evolved so much, life, reality, what that means etc. has dramatically evolved from that very basic need. Plenty of people go through their lives without ever having children, but have plenty of meaning to their lives. Life doesn't have to mean nothing just because you don't want to have sex and have kids :)

But isn't whatever meaning they have just an illusion created by our brain whose primary role is to find someone to f**k? All this other stuff is just a distraction?

While you do make a very interesting point, I think it's gone past that now simply because of how humans are. I think we may have been put on this earth initially to serve that purpose, but I think over the years we have realised we are capable of so much more than that. I don't think it's a distraction and that's all it is, I think we were meant to realise our potential otherwise why would we be how we are?
Of course I could be completely wrong, and maybe it is just an illusion. But I think at the very least we ought to make the best out of that and enjoy it when and where we can. I am very, very new to this forum, so haven't spoken to you before. But going by these posts, I cannot possibly see how you are useless. You come across as very intelligent and that you can put to very good use. Maybe you don't know how yet, but it doesn't matter because you will find that out. I would imagine you'd be very good at philosophy, for one.

I have trouble explaining whether or not I have trouble with reality, but I'll try:

I find reality rather difficult to think about as a concept. I can define it as "the stuff that actually exists regardless of whether or not I can detect it or believe in it." I suppose I spend much of my life trying to get my beliefs in line with reality, though I'm sure I'll never quite get there. I'm comfy enough with all that as far as the concepts go, though it's sometimes annoying to think that I'll never quite arrive at the place I'd like to be in.

Science for me used to be about rigorous experiments gradually revealing reality, like a linear journey always moving closer and closer to the truth. But these days I have to admit that it's not a linear path, and that any supposed "proven fact" might be overturned in the light of new observations. I remember feeling very uncomfortable when I first heard about this "constant uncertainty" principle, but I've grown used to it.

I think it could be that nothing is real. We have our ideas, some of them seem good at predicting and explaining our observations of the universe, and if after our best efforts we fail to find convincing evidence that they're wrong, we tentatively assume they're correct. Perhaps the reason we can never be absolutely certain of anything is that reality doesn't exist - that's why we never quite get to see it. But to proclaim the truth of that is to presuppose that truth (in other words, reality) exists. There's something very Alice In Wonderland about all this.

Two things seem important to me:
1. To understand that we could always turn out to be wrong about anything.
2. To understand that we can still make a lot of progress by assuming we're right, as long as we don't push our luck too far.

Reality is the psychosis of a madman to soothe his loneliness.

The concept is contagious and debilitating.

It has become a human epidemic.

The illusion of matter has been disproven.

A shared concept is the best we can do.

There are no absolutes.

The reason I asked was because the more I think about these things, the more I seem to lose my sense of reality. And Im getting worried about where this might lead. I don't want to be insane...

Sometimes I struggle in imagining how the world is like when experienced by others and how there could be other minds doing actions on their own will.

I feel like everything is real, even imaginary stuff. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one conscious since it can never be proven that anyone other than me is conscious, as if I'm asleep and asking people if I'm dreaming.

I feel like I have no control over myself whatsoever, and yet I still feel bad for making mistakes and feel good when I do the right thing. I feel like I just do what I think will work out best when I really don't know what will work.

Sometimes I ask myself where I'm feeling emotions, and I can't find it anywhere other than my imagination, body and motivations seemingly. Emotions are felt intensely in a very abstract confused way.

Time used to pass very slowly, hours seemed like days, and then a couple years ago the hours began to seem like minutes. I've heard that more gravity means slower time.

Witnessing Synchronicity all the time makes me wonder as well.
