1.I am not exceptional or even good at math, science, logic-orientated puzzles and IT.
2.My sensory issues are not severe nor are they moderate. They are only bothersome when I become anxious.
3.I have never been fascinated by trains or objects that oscillate or glimmer.
4.I do enjoy reading fiction.
5.Both my short and long term memory are poor.
6.I am not intellectually gifted at anything.
7.Receiving hugs from others does not particularly bother me. It's only uncomfortable for me when I am feeling self-conscious about my body fat percentage, which is true at present.
8.I wasn't a social misfit until the age of 16. Up until that point I was popular for my dry sense of humour and many of my peers considered me to one of the funniest pupils in the year group.
9.I don't care much for the sci-fi genre. I have never even watched an episode ofStar Trek.
10.Crowded places are not of great difficulty for me as long as I don't have to engage in trivial conversation with anyone.

This one is really hard for me--I've seemingly had everything at one time or another, but have managed to "outgrow" many of the ones that are problematic.

One of the first ones I realized was problematic was the uncanny visual memory.

Some time in the hospital gave me a chance to get over the physical touching issues.

Interesting thread. For me:

1) I don't really stim, and certainly don't have any regular, stereotypical stims as an adult (I did rock a lot in my crib and in the car, as a baby and young child).

2) I can make eye contact when it's needed/ serves my purposes, although I often choose not to.

3) I understand dry satire and jokes (although I occasionally have trouble determining if people are being serious or not, particularly in unfamiliar situations). I enjoy writing really dry satire in the style of The Onion.

4) As a pre-teen and teenager I was an avid fan of fantasy genre novels. I don't read much fiction today, but I do enjoy fantasy and sci-fi movies.

I hate math. When I was in the third grade I became arithmi-phobic and would cry almost every day in class.

I have a lot of expression in my voice and face.

I sometimes have too MUCH empathy.

I've been told that I actually have a great sense of humor. If I don't laugh at something or even feel amusement, it is nearly always because it is NOT funny, and anyone else who thinks so is a sick monster.

My talents are mainly things that involve arts and crafts, not "logical" stuff. I can't play chess or solve a 5000-piece jigsaw puzzle in under an hour, but I can make soft dolls of cartoon characters without using a pattern or instructions, and only a picture of the character is my guide. Most of the dolls are based on my own characters that I draw. :)

I can understand sarcasm, and I sure know how to be. Especially sarcastic humor. Reading Garfield comics for years really paid off.

1. I have an excellent sense of humor, and my sense of humor is pretty conventional (but more like guy-type of humor), but sometimes I do take people seriously and I can't tell if they are joking.

2. I can understand sarcasm, if it's obvious enough. I also can use sarcasm.

3. I have no trouble with idioms. It doesn't matter whether or not they make sense.

4. I have emotional empathy, more so than most people. But I do have trouble with cognitive empathy.

5. I am not in the least bit clumsy. I have superior balance and proprioception. I have excellent dexterity. It runs in the family, though. But I do suck at team sports.

6. I can lie if I have to but I'm not good at it at all.

7. I'm very creative in certain ways. But also rigid in my creativity. If that makes sense.

8. Can understand and use facial expressions. Understand and use tone of voice. That's how I can tell that I'm doing poorly in social situations. I just can't figure out why people are displeased with me and what I've done wrong.

Some more for me that aren't the "woe is me" types this time:

1. I want to have a romantic relationship.

2. I don't mind being touched as long as it's not when I'm stressed or anxious.

3. I have an excellent sense of humor.

4. I enjoy watching sports, mostly baseball.

5. I like reading fiction.

1. I get humor and sarcasm, probably because my older brothers liked to crack jokes and be wise guys, so I learned it from them. I've been told I'm funny when I make jokes.

2. I'm okay being touched (firmly or softly), so long as I see it coming. People who sneak up on me and grab me and say "Guess who?" are likely to get an elbow to the head. That might be some childhood PTSD there though.

3. I don't have a monotone voice--I've been told I have a nice phone voice. My wife says the monotone only comes out when I'm angry.

4. I thought I was good at reading people, but since the diagnosis, I've realized that a lot of misunderstandings I've encountered were probably because I wasn't as good as I thought I was.

5. I can manage metaphor most of the time, but only because I undertook a years-long research project into metaphors, idioms, and superstitions when I was in grade school. I started this after a lady asked me "cat got your tongue?" and I got in trouble for sticking my tongue out at her (oops)

I don't stim and I enjoy reading fiction. But in the complete guide to Aspergers Attwood mentions both of those things as not being all that unusual. Either becoming lost in a fantasy world or becoming an avid reader of fantasy, and that many of the children he sees either don't stim or have lost the behavior by about age 9.

My voice is pretty much normal.

I can use sarcasm and make jokes but I frequently miss it if someone else is being sarcastic or making a joke.

I'm not diagnosed but the list of traits I do possess is much longer than the list of traits I don't possess.

Let me explain: I am not diagnosed nor am I "self-diagnosed," all I know are what my life experiences have been up to this point and a lot of it makes more sense when considered through the lens of autism and sensory processing issues.

Traffic in sarcasm, and irony.

When I was growing up did stim-like behaviors, and had trouble looking folks in the eye. Not now so much.

Not a math or computer whiz. Like math, but math doesnt like me back enough for me to make a living with it.

I'm a latent or repressed monologuist. I rarely actually succumb to monologuing about interests.

Enjoyed make believe play as a child, in fact was accused of being too much into it.

I can detect sarcasm, bright lights and loud sounds don't bother me, I don't take things literally, and I don't have interest in math.
