Pushing buttons is hard for me NOT to do. Like emergency red buttons that summon the police (I've had jobs where I worked with one of those and it was always tempting me). Or when you're in the bathroom at the doctor's office and there's an emergency button so they'll come running if you push it. Or the emergency button on a train.

If the button is unlabeled, I feel very compelled to push it.

Yeah i have these mild OCD tendencies too ( was proscribed Prozac for it many years ago, but am fine now). Some days are worse than others; stress and anxiety makes them worse.
I would be concerned about the suicidal and morbid thoughts. It's depression.
I would suggest SSRIs if you are not on them already.

Yes sounds VERY OCD... I had a few things like that in the past, mainly an urge to bite things, especially things I knew bothered me sensory-wise. Such as clothes that itched and scratched)

I've been on Prozac for a few weeks but that's for social anxiety. It seems to be working for my anxiety there.

I'm like that too. I was worse when I was a kid, I've grown to put up with it more now. But I still hate labels on clothes, some kinds of collars and sleeves, and certain materials.

Yepyepyepyep...

At some point after my ear infections stopped and I had my tonsils removed (and got my MMR shots at 10), my auditory sensitivities tuned down a bit and instead tactile stuff (different from before, before it was touch, and facial hair etc.) esp. to do with clothes and skin sensitivity and water on my skin (running down my neck) started creeping up.

That's when I started biting and sucking the fabric of my sweaters, and I LOATHED it...

It should be kicking in soon.
It's very good for anxiety, depression and OCD (they are all simlar and linked together i think).
Was a great help for me.

What's odd is this only started around 8-10 years old. After I got my tonsils removed. It was suddenly swapped for auditory problems and to some degree visual/balance & motor problems.

I've always had problems with clothes, but other OCD type things I didn't get till I was around 8.
That's weird that it started after you had tonsils removed.

I toilet-trained relatively early because I HATED the feel of nappies on my skin and I used to wear tights with no pants for years. But tags/labels only started bothering me when some auditory hypersensitivities started getting better.

I guess the auditory thing might be related to tonsils because I had chronic ear infections and had a chronic general infection state for years before that. I remember suddenly thinking more clearly, actually becoming aware of my wants and needs, as soon as they were out. I sat down at the dinner table and said "I want sausage and noodles with onion gravy". I had never verbalised such needs or desires before.

Yeah, every once in a while I do. If these thoughts and urges keep coming back to you, though, and you keep trying to get rid of them but can't, that's a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Well-put - succinct, precise.

Occaisionally I will find myself wishing to punch somebody out when they have done no violence to me. I have never done it, and most likely never will, as I catch myself in the middle of the thought and I'm horrified that I could think of doing such a thing.

I never have thoughts of hurting others, but myself - like a leap from a height or in front of a vehicle? All the time. The frightening thing is that sometimes I can feel my body "winding up" to do it.

I wash my hands a lot - even though I have this "under control". And I too must check my house (it is 8' X 15') before I can sleep. I am considering a small "tent cot" to sleep within in my house to keep spiders away.

I have clean and not clean areas in my house.

I bet a lot of us are similar.

Do you mean your room, or do you actually live in a shack? 8'X15' seems a bit small for a house.
