Correct.. But those that do not know what it is like, although you explain it to them over and over repeatedly They just don't seem to ever get it!

I feel like, in my case at least, I tend to notice sounds other people subconsciously disregard rather than actually having better hearing. Like, I can tell who is where at any time and any place in the house, but I'm not hearing sounds out of the usual spectrum

This, but I do think some of us hear higher pitches than others, but have trouble with lower frequencies.
