I always buy Fair-Trade chocolate, but you have me intensely curious about a local source now.

American chocolate really does not taste good, I don't mind reeses and M&M's but in terms of bars of chocolate I think american ones taste cheap.

They are cheap.

I much prefer imported chocolate. Even the same brand will be different in terms of taste and quality.

Though now that Halloween is over and I've an absurd amount of chocolate leftovers, I'm going to have to eat them. I don't like throwing out food. :)

Galaxy is owned by Mars and Its my favourite Chocolate, Americans earn more money be seem to spend less on their food, I think the market would adapt if there was enough demand.

I'm very much the same little lady! Sugar is my fuel and I need a lot of it all the time. Without fail. Always. And forever. Okay stop! No just kidding.

:D

I wonder why your parents kept on buying sweets when they knew you had a craving for it? .

They hid them and locked them up so I couldn't get them.

Lol, mine did this too :) And then I destroyed the lock trying to pick it and they gave up :D :D :D

I did too. I also would hide it from my parents in secret stashes under my mattress as if it were crack.

Seriously, parents with kids who try to get to sweets and find ways, it still boggles my mind how they can keep on buying it. This only works until they reach their adolescence.

If you’re diabetic, like I am, you definitely want to have anything around that has some kind of sugar, whether it be milk(lactose), candy, sugar cubes, pretzels, potato chips, popcorn or even make a solution of sugar and water, ESPECIALLY when you feel your sugars taking a nosedive. (I can usually tell, especially when I see purple and yellow blobs in front of my eyes.)

OH! So that's what those purple and yellow splotches mean! I'm so glad I saw your passing comment :? It's been driving me crazy what those were!

I don't think sugar cravings directly correlate with autism. Sugar is addictive, so just about anyone could have intense cravings. I can see how people who are more prone to stress, picky eating, etc. being more likely to have sugar addictions though. So, as EzraS said...

I also have a huge sweet tooth and have had it my whole life, but I don't have sugar cravings. I cannot eat sugar straight just for the heck of it nor can I stand things that are too sweet. For me it's a certain taste I crave, not the sugar itself. I did have a sugar addiction for a year once, and had major mood swings and cravings when without sugar, but I'm over it now thank God.

I detested sugar, even including the sugar in vegetables. Just the idea of chocolate was enough to nauseate me. This was until I was put on antidepressants. Now I get those sugar cravings nearly everyday.

I started theropy, and we are exploring autism in my life and Aspurgers and it as a diagnosis. This MIGHT explain my love of sugar, as I love it.

I have a book called Suicide by Sugar. It doesn’t stop me from eating hoards of sugar at one time. What info I have is that, not that the forbidden fruit concept is wrong here, but simple carbohydrates have a similar molecular structure as an opiate, in the human body, for SOME of us. Or let’s say the receptor processes the molecule somewhat like an opiate. Thanks for the iron will comment there, but after 10 days of no sugar I am so foggy, listless and depressed. Can I say how much Halloween candy I’ve had?

Hippocrates stated that all disease originates in the gut. Controlling sugar, toxins, bad influences...I will get so stressed it’s as bad as a pack a day smoking habit. Funny thing, sugar cane is natural. But so is poison ivy. I try to get the balance right (with sugar intake, not poison ivy).
