Awesome. Who knew a show I boycotted would let one of our own in.

We should all cheer her on. :o

Alas, Barbie is out and the heinous "Bratz" are in. Nothing like promoting bad attitudes to girls right from the cradle....
:x

That said, I do hope she does well. She's got a pretty face and nice hair... her eyes/mouth don't have that attitude of anger and smugness I find so revolting! Of course, I prefer a fuller figure on a gal. Currrrvesssss.... :P :D

Intersting that they let a person with AS on the show. Only for drama reasons obviously.

Still, all models basically look the same to me. SOme are good looking or what America defines as "hot," the other ones are just okay looking and I wonder why they are even models in the first place.

I watched that last night and all I could think was give these women something to eat before they waste away. It's just too skinny... even for that height. And they expect us women to be able to have a figure like models and it's not always possible.

Lol...I seem to think this everytime I watch model programmes too (which is not very often that I watch them anyway).
I can't believe how skinny people are willing to become just to get their picture in a magazine!

Some women are actually very thin - I am, my whole family is. I've always been teased about it, probably a good deal more than other females are teased about being overweight. Let's face it, it's the thin women who really stand out, not the heavier ones. And we aspies know what really happens to those who "stand out," don't we? So whenever I hear about American women's obsession with "thinness," I'm a little sceptical. I think it's really about American women's obsession with objectifying, and competing brutally with, other women...and for believing they have the right to be something they're not, even if it kills them in the process.

As a fellow genetically thin woman (whole family is too) I'm with ya on that!

As for this Heather, go girl! I've only just found this show because they keep playing the seasons in marathons the past few weekends. You watch one episode & it becomes like eating potato chips, you can't stop. Anyhoo I'm standing by Heather also. Her autism was shining through in her 'walking' in last nights episode, if she can work through that I think she will go really far. Woman on this show are going to be at each others throats no matter who the other woman is, that's just real tv for you. I hope she can hang in there. They aren't allowed tv, radio, ipod, nothing in the house! It's no wonder they are all crazy toward the end of the seasons. I think it's Nigel Barker & Jay Manuel that keep me watching, they have such big hearts. It's nice to know there are still people in the world that seem to truly care about others.

Bones indeed. She's a little bit on the anorexic side of things. I think thin women are attractive, but bony is too thin.

By the way, did they actually mention on the show this person had Asperger's syndrome? Did they say, "Hey, what do you know? This contestant has Asperger's syndrome, a mild form of autism that makes her socially clueless. Laughs galore await!"?

It would be nice if she won. But the other contestants will be equally as pretty, so that won't be an advantage. It will come down to personality.

It's great to hear about someone with AS on shows like that.

I don't watch those kinds of shows, though.

What is it specifically that you guys are picking up on that tells you she has AS? I maybe don't know what to look for, as she seems "normal" to me :)

Maybe I just miss it, because this other video on here a few months back with a bunch of people with AS, I thought they all seemed 100% "normal".

I'm really glad someone else noticed this! I have zero interest in reality shows, but my mom told me about this, and had my watch all the sections with her in them. I've asked her to let me know whenever she's one.

Here's her video on the CW's web site (this wasn't in the broadcast as far as I know):

Yes, they specifically said it, and I think she talked about it briefly. They weren't weird about it at all though, it was just kind of stated matter of factly, I thought respectfully.

She said she was diagnosed at 13 with AS and ADHD (which always seems like a weird combination to me from my understanding of AS, but I guess it's common).

Anyway this is quite exciting! There are hardly any "outed" people with AS-well, lots probably wouldn't know they have it! (I'm suspicious of Harrison Ford...)

I heard that all the other girls already hate Ebony, who I guess has also been snotty to Heather and sounds like a bully. If the others hate this Ebony and she's mean to Heather, maybe they will think better of Heather. I guess it just depends on how she does living in that house 24/7 with all those other girls.
