I have done this for years. I never really notice it unless I am really paying attention or if someone brings it up. It usually ends up like I say a word or sentence word or sentence. Something like that. Or it may be only one word.

Like most of you all who do this, i never thought it was abnormal or wierd. Of course, I was diagnosed only recently, so I thought everything I did was normal.

Hmm, I'm VERY palilalic AND echolalic. Fortunately (usually) only in private, or even sometimes when I'm out and about and (I think) no-one will notice me.

Usually what happens is I repeat conversations I have had with members of the opposite sex - and they are always the dialogues where I have given them a compliment and they have responded to it.

I say there are symptoms of both palilalia and echolalia, because I'm repeating my words AND the other person's. For good measure I repeat the body language/actions as well. For example:

Me: I like your skirt.
Lady (looks down at her skirt, back up and smiles.)
Lady: Thank you!

Here, I not only say the words (both mine and hers), but also repeat the voice tones and imitate the action where the lady looked down, up and smiled. Is the repitition of actions as well as words just an extension of echolalia and palilalia - or is there another name for it, if any? Indeed, has anyone heard about anything like this before?

Is it possible, as well as Asperger's/autism, I might have Tourette's as well?
