I'm a female. From what I've been reading as of late, the professionals are starting to question if there are more aspie girls than what was originally thought. More and more girls and grown women are being diagnosed with it, such as myself. I think it's like one person mentioned here where I read women aspies are more quiet than men, it's harder to diagnose in women. I grew up thinking having no clue what my problem was and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't overcome a lot of obstacles. The only reason I found out I had AS is I went to my doctor 2 years ago and demanded I get the tests to see what my problem was. Because I was either down right worthless or I had some kind of disorder. I didn't want a shrink where I just sat and talked while some head doctor analyzed and plucked at me, I wanted, no needed the tests because I had had enough. I had no idea though I was going to be diagnosed with something like AS. I believe there are a lot more women out there with it than what we realize. It sucks to think they're the ones who still think they're worthless, selfish can't get their act together because they're supposedly spoiled or worse, being beaten by their husbands because they can't stand up for themselves.

I know almost as many females on the spectrum as I do males. Females are often not diagnosed (imho) since they don't seem to meltdown quite as often (and sexist males tend to write those off as females being "menstrual")

Yeah. Even after I was diagnosed, they put me on birth control to make me have fewer meltdowns, which they called "bitchiness" (which last I heard doesn't belong in medical records as a word).

This is quite strange now, that the results seem quite even now. What on Earth is going on?

well, you have to understand that a site catering to AS is not going to be a representative sample, either...;)

Male, but could use an upgrade and some new parts...;)
