Depends on the texture. Balsa wood is hard to touch. The drier and coarser it is, the less I want to touch it.

Wet wood like in sticks you stir coffee with. Awful. Or ice-cream sticks. I like ice-cream but for me it's really hard to finish eating my ice-cream. It gives me the same shivers as chalk-on-blackboard.
