Cops or not, they were apparently a**holes. Sorry you had such a bad day, hopefully you will forget about it soon, or sue them for a lot of money.

When I was younger, the police were people
that could be respected.I'm sure there are
still good police around but sadly these days a lot of them have become cowardly thugs. :x
Rather than upholding law and order they
are just as likely to bask in their feelings of
superiority and indulge in the bullying of
innocent people.I once got pulled over for no
reason at all other than I was driving home from night shift and on an empty road I
presented an easy target for them to home in on and wield their power.
I hope you recover ok from your experience
and if it happens again you won't have to feel
intimidated.

I hope you never have to go through an experience like that again.

If you are ever pulled over again, do you think you could start preparing yourself to show the ID/Card and not bolting like you did.
I have to say, running from officers will trigger more aggressive actions on their part.
They not only may suspect you of wrong doing, but also they have no idea whether you are armed with a weapon or not.
Their adrenaline kicks in and that with other factors is what makes so many officers lose control when they do.
They can really get amped up.

You need to teach yourself some sort of key phrase, or thoughts which can help you calm down and stay in the car next time.
This is for your own safety.

I agree. however the officers had no right to laugh at you. That was condescending and rude. What buttholes.
I agree with both these posts.Running was not the best thing to do. Police making jokes about someones distress is totally unprofessional. I suggest that you consider filing a complaint with Internal Affairs AFTER you file a complaint at your City Council representative. That way they ( Internal Affairs) will be likely to cover their own asses by making a serious effort to determine who the joker(s) are. My brother is a cop and some of his "Brothers of the shield" are total jerks. One I have met got out of the Marine Corps early because of a bad back, 18 months later he was a cop.

Ill tell you right now policemen are dumbasses...they don't pay attention and they are a part of a corrupted justice system. Be calm and notice how ret*d they act...that will make you feel better.

Age1600,
You said that the cop "slammed your body against the curb". Do you have any marks/bruises from this? If so, you should take a photo of them, write a complaint to the police station about mistreatment and send the photos in with it. I hope that you or your boyfriend managed to get the police officers name otherwise this will be useless.
I can understand why the police would want to catch you while you were running, as they would have thought that you were guilty of something. Although the way that they acted even AFTER your boyfriend told them that you were autistic is unacceptable.

I hope that you manage to sort everything out.

Wow! What a mess that the police, having been told of your condition, would treat you so brutally! What a shame. Plus, they hurt you (physically & otherwise)! What were they (not) thinking? I cannot imagine the police, or anyone, being so callous. I do understand that you ran, out of sheer fear! I cannot imagine the kind of panic/terror you endured. How can the police dept. justify this behavior on the part of their professionals, especially after they knew of your condition? They need a BIG lesson on reality, and sensitivity. Scary.

In what I related, what happened to me, the troopers were so kind (given they knew of my condition). NOT the case with your police force, obviously.

that's pretty f**** up and I hope you get better. But you do know that getting out of the car was the wrong thing to do. by you running the cop prolly thought you may have had drugs on you or had an warrent out for your arrest. That's why he was so rough. What did you get pulled for?

Yea it is, when i got out of the car, it felt like my brain disappeared, i just took off, it was so weird how it felt like i wasnt even doing it, felt like it was just a reaction that went wrong i guess. Anyways we dont know why we got pulled over actually, he followed us into cvs, then drove around to the other store around it, until we pulled out, and then he followed behind us at a red light, then followed us for a bit until they pulled us over. My bf gets harassed by nj cops allllll the time, cuz he has an out of state license plate still, hasnt got it transformed over yet, so they think an easy ticket, kid wont fight it. He also has a fast car, but he doesn't go any faster then 2 miles over the speed limit, hes not stupid. This has happened once before too, and the cop was yelling at me, i freaked out then, got out of the car and headbanged against the tree extremely hard. I hate cops with a passion now!

Yea I hate cops too and most people where I live hate them also. Just remember if you get pulled over again. Just try to calm down, try be polite say "how u doing officer". He'll prolly ask for your license and registration and tell you why u was pulled. If he asks why are u nervous just tell them it's your 1st time getting pulled over. Works most of time and they let you go with a warning.

Age1600,

They often REJECT people that are too qualified to be police officers! Police SHOULD be SMART, TOLERANT, and PATIENT, but they are usually NONE of those. That is true even if you are NT!

Then again, there is garbage like the Rodney King garbage that makes it to where they don't know where they stand. I saw the REAL film, start to finish(at least it was a bit longer than the portion they showed later to the general public) The police WERE telling the truth. He lunged out, attacked some of them, and kept getting up. Yet there was some sort of conspiracy to hide that, I guess so some Blacks wouldn't be offended. When the police were judged not guilty, LA was in TURMOIL! There was looting, there were fires, and curfews! All because some blacks felt they had been wronged by the justice system. WAY TO PROVE YOUR INNOCENCE, huh!?

And, I have heard of police attacks on whites that, to the best of my knowledge, were decent, etc... HECK, one police officer said he almost shot me!

I hope you heal from it soon, and sue them for greater oversight against police brutality and a lot of money.

I hate police brutality.. Were there any witnesses? I seriously wonder if you could sue them for that mistreatment... physical AND psychological abuse of a citizen that didn't do anything wrong. You ran instinctively because you fear police having seen the brutality they have inflicted upon others.. I so hate police brutality... I think there are organizations that help citizens with filing complaints against certain officers.. They should NEVER have laughed at you either..

I wonder if police officers are getting more and more sadistic.. I too have experienced a certain amount of sadism from cops... not to the extent you went through though...

I hope you can get some type of resolution on this issue.. They should not be allowed to get away with that type of cruelty.

Screw those braindead cops who were laughing at you. To me they sound like typical losers that lack any kind of substance. The type of people who don't know what art is, the type of people who are so narrowminded that they will never understand the world in it's entirety. People should never laugh at something they don't understand, it is a display of ignorance, it's almost admitting to being ignorant.

I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident. Please don't lose respect for police because of a few rotten apples. Personally I think approach is everything and these cops used the wrong approach. There was no excuse to laugh at you nor slam you against the pavement. I would be definitely looking at filing a formal complaint. Hugs to you Age 1600.

In general I don't freak out with regards to police officers but yes I get nervous regarding police officers in back of me because they are the police.
