Would you live in a commune designed for autistic people?

Professor Pretorius mentioned the Amish. That would be ideal to be completely self reliant but do you think that completely cutting ourselves off from society is the best way to go?

I dunno if living in any commune would appeal to me. I'm not the kind of person who would cut themselves off from the world just because I didn't like it. No, more like the kind of person who would change the world in a revoultion. Yeah, so a commune wouldn't change the fact that the world is going to blazes. But a revolution could, if there was someone just enough to lead it.

I don't think cutting ourselves off from society would be a good idea. However, it would be nice to have a refuge where we could really get away from the NTs when we need to.

Prof Pretorius' concept sounds the nicest to me. Who cares how realistic it is.

The trouble with that can be that people come to rely on it so much they can't leave, and the dynamics of a place you can't leave get very ugly fast.

Thoreau moved to the edge of town, and his mother (who lived very close) helped him out a good deal.

Not that this should denigrate his work, but the popular idea that he just lived out in the middle of the woods isn't all that accurate.

I agree a commune would be limiting, but a city or nation would where we are the majority would be good. Certain groups of people have congregated in certain areas and become a powerful force in those communities. If aspies could do this, become a force in a community, we could impact it's culture, it's values, and make it change. The NTs would still be there, only their ways wouldn't be the dominant ways.

I never liked communes, I hate being abosrbed in a mass or group, I am too much an indiviual for that. And who says we could live with one another, wouldn't we have clashes just because we woudn't put up with our own antics as well?

On the other hand even the gay community bought an island and called it gayland, I wonder where it is though, have never heard of it anymore.

I agree, although I love myself for who I am and how god made me. Some of my @$$burger traits I'm trying to minimize, and you sure as phuk dont do it by hanging out with people who have all the traits you DONT LIKE. Because well, honestly I like people, and people like me I just give the wrong impression alot of the times.
