That's totally me too

As for the original question - Basically, the way that people veiw this now = openly expressing a view different or contrary to others in the presence of someone who disagrees is 'forcing your opinions on others'. Therefore I don't believe anyone can honestly say no to this question.

Well.. maybe someone. But then they're not a very interesting person.. agreeing all the time  :P

I'm sorry to inform you of this but:

You just agreed with someone.

It's okay though...I think :?
I agree with people sometimes to so that might make me a little boring.
Sometimes I definitely don't agree with people though.

Someone once said to me during an arguement: "Let's agree to disagree."

I told her that her statement was a paradox and was very confusing.
I mean how could we agree if we still disagreed?
It didn't make any sense.
It did seem like a bit of a "cop-out" on her part anyway.

She didn't speak to me for the rest of the evening after that.

AmberEyes, I am not saying that anyone who ever agrees is boring lol. What I said was that if there is someone who agrees with everything that everyone says all the time, they must not be very interesting.

Fair enough then, sorry I misunderstood. :)

What about someone who never agrees with anyone then?

Is s/he a really interesting person or just "a pain in the neck"?

Or perhaps a combination of both?

I'm talking about real complainers and kvetchers.
People who are never satisfied and go on and on about what's "wrong" with the world.

I have met someone who never agrees with anybody, much.
He's very...interesting and funny too. lol

No problem

Well it depends, I think. If the person disagrees just for the sake of being argumentative or pissing people off, then they're just a pain in the neck lol. If theres someone who just honestly holds a view contrary to everyone in everything, I would think that he is a very interesting person! Haha

I just wonder how people like that can survive or make a living 8O.

Just imagine, a person like that disagreeing authority figures such as doctors, their boss, traffic wardens...

Just imagine the uproar!

How would this person get ever get anything done that involved other people?

I can just picture the scene at the "Refunds and Exchange" desk or their luggage going missing at "Baggage Reclaim" (it does happen!).

It could turn nasty...

I definitely have before, and I would more if I was just a little less self-conscious. It's something I stay vigilant for to avoid doing. I feel guilty when I notice I'm doing it when a more submissive personality is around, and I try to encourage them to voice their opinion more but I can tell I've already got them expecting me to override them and they stay in happy-not-to-be-volunteering-anything mode.

Without a doubt. But i have become more clued up on my extremism the past couple of years and keep an eye out for the black and white monster when it rears its ugly head.

It depends on what opinions they are or what people think of those who don't agree. For example saying "I like dark chocolate better than milk chocolate" chocolate is one thing, saying "Dark chocolate is better than milk chocolate and anyone who prefers milk chocolate is fat ugly stupid gay and going to burn in hell for all eternity" is another. And if you protest you're a "butthurt fanboy".

Forcing your opinion about which type of chocolate is better seems pretty stupid, but people are practically starting real wars over which game company, game console, animation, toy franchise, superheros, and comic book is better. It's dumb.

Well, a lot of us on the spectrum are expected to be socially motivated, which is basically forcing their opinions on to us, not realising how much stress or pressure it can be on a lot of autistics, so what makes it so all right for others to force their opinions on to us but we can't them?

I have tried to be better about this, but I have a very nasty habit of finding holes in the logic of other people if their opinions/views do not make sense to me. I get almost to the point of ridiculing them and/or putting them on the spot. I'm just wondering if any of you do this or if I'm just a total ass :)

I only give people a "wake up call" when they force their opinions on me. :x
