Who do you idealize?

As I see it, God doesn't want to be worshipped, he wants us to have a relationship with him. God's not narcisstic. He doesn't need worship. Maybe some of us in part of our relationship with God need to worship God. But God doesn't need worship, and is just as cool with those of us who connect with God in an intimate non-worshipy kind of way.

I would say that, to the extent that God's the sort of entity capable of want, God wants more than just to be appreciated. God wants us to connect with him, not just worship or appreciate him.

Or maybe it's not so much about what god wants as what we humans need.

You're both wrong; there is no god.

Like I said, maybe it's not so much about what God wants as what we humans need. (And not all of us need the same things.)

As far as I am aware there have been no headlines saying "Scientists have finally disproven that God exists"

As this point those the don't believe in God have as much "Faith" that God doesn't exist, as those who do have faith that he doesn't.

But that's all it is, faith. It's can't be proven to anyones satisfaction at this point.

I guess if God really wanted us to believe in him, he'd ask us to do it himself - instead of hoping that his disciples'll be able to manage it.

Perhaps God does. Perhaps it's a matter of what God is and how God speaks to us, and knowing what to listen to.

Perhaps we do better to be open to finding God in our own life and seeing what we see rather than taking what someone else says God is and stopping there, either believing or not.
