Do you have echolalia?

I do this quite often. Apparently as a child I would often repeat "Calgon, take me away!" One former neighbor even told me when I was a teenager, that when I was much younger, I one day ran out of my house into the front yard, then screamed, "Calgon, take me away!" and then fell to the ground.

If I correctly understand the meaning of the term - I used to do this constantly, but not so much anymore. Any time I ever said something to someone, the words that I had just said (or that they had just said) would be echoing in my head over and over until I (or they) said something new.

I had a severe form echolalia (I didn't talk at all - just repeated stuff) for a couple years in my childhood, then I lost that trait as my Autism became milder.

Yes I had it when I was little, apparently one of my teachers got me out of it.

Now I sometimes would repeat something someone said in order to know if I got it right (I'm hearing impaired so this is more of a habit because of that) Also phrases and sometimes things that people have said to me or something I've heard gets stuck in my head and loops, sort of like a broken record.

The delayed echolalia is less common for me as an adult.

I'll often repeat the last word in a sentence that somebody has spoken to me, for example 'I'm going out to the shops'

Me: 'Shops, shops, shops...' etc.

It's less common for me to repeat whole sentences but it has been known to happen- particularly in response to interrogatives and I regularly repeat the ends of my own sentences; I hadn't known the specific term for that until now.
