Good idea. How about this:

"Thank you. I try, and don't always do as well as I did yesterday. I have a disability of the right hemisphere. The opposite of someone with dyslexia, I have excellent verbal skills but struggle greatly with accurate visual and spatial perception. Parking is a particular challenge. In a regular parking lot, it will typically take me up to three tries in order to park successfully. In the close confines of a parking garage however, I find this kind of maneuvering all but impossible, so I just have to do my best on the first try. Judging angles is very difficult for me, and I often wind up too far to one side. I do apologize for any inconvenience. Please keep in mind though, that although it is distressing for you when I park so close, I must struggle with this every hour of every day. I appreciate your understanding and tolerance."

Like many of the other posters, I would not respond.

If I did, I would simply write "THANKS!! !" on the bottom of his note and put it on his car.

I sometimes like to play the literal card to piss jerks off. Why didn't I think of this sooner for this situation?

Stick a knife in all 4 of his tires and park somewhere far away from him. He sounds like a prick, and I believe that explaining to him that you have NLD will make him ridicule you.

Honestly, I did say that but I didn't mean it ... I do not believe in vandalizing others' property. It would ruin my entire world if someone slashed all 4 of my tires, because tires are expensive. In fact, right now it could make the difference of me losing my house or not, and things might not be so great with him either. He could also go crazy and kill a lot of people over it, as it seems is the popular thing to do right now when someone gets upset.

But in all honesty, I do believe if he is a jerk, explaining NLD to him might make him ridicule you and I do not know that I would want that. Not only do I think I would ignore him (though it would be tempting to be sarcastic back to him) but I honestly think I would find a different place to park if possible, perhaps next to someone you think looks like they would be easier to get along with. Not sure if changing spaces is an option, but if it is, it might be worth your consideration.

This is difficult.

The irritation for both is the violation of justice, of "shoulds:" people should park well; people should not be unkind. In real life, people often do not park well; people are frequently not kind.

He was irritated and wished to dump his irritation - for which he is responsible - on to you. In this he succeeded.

I know the solution is in somehow becoming free of "shoulds" so that no "should" is violated; so that someone's random thoughtlessness or cruelty has no effect upon us and is dismissed harmlessly. I do not yet know how precisely to accomplish this, however.

Best of luck in resolving the situation satisfactorily.
