The ''Invisible'' rules thread
I always thought ''don't have a cold out in public'' would be an invisible rule (since people judge you against other things you can't control), but funnily enough it isn't. I hear people coughing and hacking and blowing their nose and sneezing and sniffing everywhere I go, but people take no notice (even though it spreads germs). But people take notice and stare at me if I slip on ice or something - which is just as uncontrollable and normal as catching a cold. Also it's not so germy to slip on ice.

I've broken most of these "rules" before, but I mainly honestly couldn't care. A few of these I break very often. I've also fallen before, but I wasn't meant to. >_>
Invisible rules.... is this world still run by an invisible Hitler or something? I could understand the "Don't rage" one though.
I laugh out loud to myself all the time. Life is so ridiculous, how can you not??
I sing along with the songs in stores, too, and sometimes make random observations to strangers.
I'm 47, and I've never noticed this behavior being a problem for me. Or maybe I'm just oblivious. I always figure people just think I'm a happy person. Which I am. ![]()

Yer......I must admit that having an attitude like that fights of some anxieties or Agoraphobia.
But I live in a village where people recognise you, but don't know you enough to be friendly and speak to, and if I started breaking these rules and started being socially careless, I know I will start getting a bad name for myself, and anybody who wants to walk with me will be too embarrassed to be with me, and I'll start loosing out on friendships (and I've started improving with keeping friends with people). So if I started breaking lots of social rules here, people will start calling me ''that weird girl'', and I don't want to be known as that. Also, I don't want people becoming wary of me.
I know a woman who lives somewhere near us, and she stands on the corner of a street, screeching and waving her hands mentally, all day. Everybody remembers what she looks like because of her weird actions, and when she comes into a shop everybody points and sniggers at her, and some become wary. And it's known that people have always laughed at her (even I have), and people have even picked on her, and she makes little kids cry. She's become the laughing stock of the town. I don't want to end up being laughed at like that.
Say, for example, if I decided to walk along constantly talking loudly to myself. Think of all the people who will stare at me as I pass. I don't like people staring at me anyway, without encouraging them to. Why make a fool of myself when I'm self-aware enough not to?
I just find it hard to maintain positive and relaxed impressions all the time, that's all. It's hard when your feelings inside of you are the complete opposite to positive feelings, especially (like I've already mentioned) when you're waiting for a delayed bus in the freezing cold. It's hard to keep a relaxed happy face. I broke a rule last winter, when it was freezing cold, the bus hadn't come, and somebody had a kid what was playing up and was running around me, like I was it's mum. So I got so fed up and agitated, that I stormed to the opposite side of the bus stop, huffing, and everybody in the bus stop was then staring at me, for ages. I couldn't relax then. I didn't know what to do to keep their eyes off of me. When I got on the bus (when it finally came), the 2 people who sat down in front of me kept looking behind at me the whole way home. And even now one of the passengers remembers me doing it, and still looks at me each time she see's me, and it makes me feel very uncomfortable and stupid. So, there you have it - one little rule broken, and it goes a long way with NTs.
