Aspergers and overprotective parents

"Helicopter parents" for the most part did not exist when I was growing up in the 1960's and 1970's. People just did not fear their kids would be hurt or be killed if they went out. By age 10 I was taking bike rides 2 miles from my house. They let me go cross country all summer long with an adult supervised organization. What ever the school said was correct because they were the experts. They drummed into me that everybody had different strengths and weaknesses, that was no moral judgment just a fact of life. It was up to me to figure out how to best deal with it.
Same philosophy with employers. What you did outside the office was your business unless it effected their business.
