When did you learn how to tie shoes?

I was in the fourth grade. It was a source of embarrassment for me, because at that same age I was reading at about an eighth grade level.

I learnt to somehow tie my shoes when I was 5. It took a lot of time, and most of the time I ended up untying what I had tied so far, or else making a mess of a tie (6 knots and then a successful tie).

However, I finally learnt to tie my shoes in a manageable, albeit unorthodox way when I was 11- it was partly by observing people doing it, and party my own invention.

I think that I was around 15 or 16. I do not exactly remember. Now all of my shows are either slip on or velcro. I like the slip on the best.

unfortunaly,i was forced to teach myself at 4. my mom told me to figure it out.(she figured anyone that smart should be tieing their own laces) so i CAN do it...just not very well .i has NOT gotten any better over the years.my friends usually make me stop what ever it is that im doing and let THEM do it RIGHT. it IRKS them so.

I was just thinking for you velcro enthusiasts that aren't of the ...ahem... older generation you might look for a pair of Kangeroos or Roos. I remember when those were popular in high school I had a pair with velcro. I have seen Roos in recent years in some of the Emo type clothing shops and online stores.

Personally I love the slip-on Nikes that have been out the past few years called Xcellerators. They look like they have laces but are really slip-ons. I have a pair in almost every color they have come out with.

I still don't really tie my regular shoes, I just cut the strings really short and tie them in a knot after tightening the shoes up. The knot makes it unable to go through the holes in the shoe so yeah it works best I actually taught myself how to tie my shoes at around the age of 4 or 5. It turns out I found out the "right?" way to tie them. I still don't see the problem with tieing them a different way. If something works why change it?

I still can't but what really gets on my nerves is that there aren't any velcro football boots

Really late. Like,mid-late twenties(Id used loafers til' then or strapped still , generally , do . One more piece of proof that I " really " am Aspie , I guess ! !! !! !! !! !!

Never learned the second step. I usually stick with velcro shoes.

I learned to crawl silently under someone and tie THEIR shoes(together) long before my own.

I'm pretty sure I was in Grade 3 at the time, so I must have been 8 or 9. Didn't have the luxury of Velcro, sad to say.

At a very young age, don't recall when tho.

I learned when I was 7 or 8. I still use the bunny ears method and people laugh and point that out all the time.

my uncle dick patiently taught me when i was a toddler. not sure exact age, but when i was tested on it in kindergarten, i already knew how.
