Mods, why aren't you removing this BS?
Because it's not BS? ...
It’s BS. The member has claimed to have discovered THE cause, without presenting his/her credentials, methodology, or peer-review confirmation.

It takes much more than an Internet connection, an obsessive focus, and a lot of spare time to discover a ‘cause’ for anything.

So let me make this official: I’m calling BS on the OP’s claim.. Now watch him/her get all indignant because I’m not turning cartwheels and shouting ‘Hallelujah’ over his/her alleged results. Watch him/her present a lot of unrelated ‘facts’ and convoluted ‘reasoning’ in a vain effort to ‘prove’ his/her claim. Watch him/her attack anyone who does not hail him/her as a great scientist with an even greater scientific discovery.

(It’s always the same ... and I’m betting that this is no different from past ‘discoveries’.)

But if he or she turns out to be the Albert Schweitzer of autism and have an actual cause/cure, then I will withdraw my protest and proclaim the effort as real.

Replace the word "THE," with "A," and your stress levels might come down out of the stratosphere.

This is what you wrote to me, "I figured out what causes AS and how to treat it".

And I did. According to your homie, Tony, I’ve had AS my entire life - and doing what I did & do alleviates the symptoms, in me, that he wrote about. And like the OP of this thread I’ve had a brief PM chat with, I’ve learned things since I wrote that & now phrase things differently. You’ll notice in this thread that I’ve written multiple times that it “treats My autism.” And if you care to read any historical posts you’ll find that I’ve written several times that what I’ve learned and done should, according to medical study stats, apply to 70% of us on the spectrum. (Not all. 70% of ppl on the spectrum have a sensitivity to salicylate acids.) I’m now more in line with kraftie kortie’s Phrasing that it’s perhaps not Autism or ASD, but rather, Autism(s) that may have multiple causes that result in similar symptoms. At the time I wrote what you quoted, I had figured out what causes/exasperates AS and how to treat those textbook symptoms as per your homie & hadn’t considered the possibility that the same symptoms could be caused by something else, or that something else could cause enough of the diagnostic criteria symptoms to qualify for a diagnosis (whether self or professional) under the rather broad umbrella list that is ASD.

So, nothing I wrote was untrue. We’ve all simply learned more since then 6+ years ago, myself included.

Well I'm glad that stranger happened by to give you vehicle to get all that posted out once again. Although it might have been better if the op had waited until april 1st.

And I’m glad you have an outlet for your anti-science-learning-progress-&-treatment nonsense so you don’t spontaneously combust and make a big black burnt ashy mess for someone to have to cleanup. 8)

Click the links and read at your leisure. I am not your personal assistant.

It's a standard in scientific communication that you give precise citations. If you cite a book, it's a standard to name the chapter.
If you claim the science supports your opinions, keep up to scientific standards in your communication.
Nothing personal about me or you, precise citations are intended for anyone who wants to check the sources and are part of why the science works.

Well then, it's a good thing I posted a NYT news article on an internet forum vs. wrote a scientific paper, then, isn't it?

Depends on how scientific your claims aspire to be.

If you just casually mention some topic, you can give no sources at all.
If you claim yourself smarter than (or as smart as) the mainstream science, you have to be prepared for all the critique scientific claims conventionally undergo.

Mainstream science is building up evidence of purely genetic factor deciding weather someone is on the spectrum in broad sense (including subclinical levels) and variety of factors (most likely including gut microbiota) influencing given autistic individual's functioning.

Gut Dysphoria is just not THE answer to what causes autism. It was proposed, in studies which dealt with Gut Dysphoria, that this could be one of MANY potential "answers."

People (especially parents) have tried various diets which purportedly addresses the symptoms of autism. By and large, most of the time, incomplete success has been attained; sometimes no success at all. This is especially true when dealing with the "treatment" of "lower-functioning" autistic people.

There is much documented scientific evidence for the genetic basis of autism. And for the "many causes" hypothesis. For causes other than "Gut Dysphoria."

Some sort of diet, I believe, can help SOME people with autism----especially those with less complexity in their autism.

But....as a panacea...as a "cure all," it falls short of the mark.

"Gut bacteria" and "Microbiota"?

That's all we need … people reading our entrails to tell us whether or not we'll be unlucky...

The one thing that is apparent to me about all treatment is that it does absolutely nothing for theory of mind

I get called anti-science, yet when I ask for mainstream science standards of acceptable research and presentation, I run into all kinds of objections. Obviously scientifically acceptable evidence of a successful treatment would have to include a clinical before and after detailed summery. For instance there is such a file on the cognitive behavioral therapy I received.
