Seems to me that if you could only guarantee that your child (who probably won't end up needing 24/7 care) would not be mistreated, then you wouldn't be so worried about trying to turn him normal. I guess maybe moms are desperate that their children not be abused, and see a cure as the only way to assure it. Reality says that even if they were to become NT you could not keep them from all danger; and that it is not possible to do this anyway--by trying to cure him you may actually decrease the child's ability, and thereby the adult's ability, to advocate for himself and to insist on the rights you are so afraid others will try to take from him.
