i try my best to be a good conversationalist, and i mostly listen and let others do the talking. the only time my ears shut down is when people become abusive.

Surfman has a point. The mega-repeat stuff that comes out sometimes could try the patience of Job. I'd hardly class mentioning that as abuse.

i did not mean for anybody to think that such was abuse. patience-trying, but not abuse. the biblical sense of "long suffering" applies here.

I didn't read the whole thread. It's probably a good idea in theory and can be very messy when implemented. Considering that typical aspies don't have much people skill and feel uncomfortable with others, sticking together won't happen very easily. Somehow I visualize trying to glue a bunch of pebbles together with cooking oil. :D Besides the more visible an organization is the more it becomes target of attacks. If the organization is not strong within it would fall apart easily. What we need are NT parents, spouses, siblings and friends who are passionate activists, who can relate to the NT world to advocate for us.

Of course I don't mean we shouldn't speak up for ourselves. It's just a close NT person probably does it a lot better and with much less agony. There are many successful aspies who are helped and supported by loving NT family and friends. In my experience aspies tend to understand and tolerate each other well, but they aren't great with getting bigger things accomplished, since most of them don't organize, lead or follow well. We need NT people as our support structures.

We should form an "ASPIE BROTHERHOOD" or something. We all have something in common and I am sure we do not fit in well with the typical American conformist society. We need to stick together, share our experiences with eachother and help fellow Aspies out in different areas(One Aspie may be good in this, the other is good at that). Learn from eachother! Before it is too late.

The most highly systemized, dysfunctional, antisocial awareness unity group ever to almost be assembled!
LOL, your comment has made my day, I would like to personally extend my gratitude for such an amazing feat. :D

Thanks, Mithos!

I think that's called "trying to herd cats".

We could form some sort of super sexy Autism Club, like The Brotherhood of Autisics (Get it? Brotherhood of Assassins? Har har har.) or the Super Awesome Autism Squad.

Blah, I'm lame. XD

I'm not a 'team player' and never have been.

The issue for me is not sticking together with other Aspies, it is sticking together with ANYONE.

Social media allows me to connect with a wide range of people, on and off the Autism/Neurodiversity spectrums and it works well for me.

Outside of social media and the necessary contact required with my business, I am pretty much a Loner outside of my family.
