For the record, Cody, I thought you were very funny. :)

I may be wrong of course (only the OP knows) but I think he meant it literally. I get the same reaction in the chatroom. Go in there and announce you're above a certain age, and people say: "oh my goodness, that's so old! What are you doing in here?" as though chatrooms were a thing only teenagers were supposed to use! :?

For the record, Cody, I thought you were not funny at all - but people's responses on this thread have been very funny indeed.

Yeah you tell them you're around 35 or whatever, and they act like you said 65. I guess the OPs just another example of that.

Pah - my first puter had a 133 processor, 1.5gb HD and 16mb RAM when you were still in nappies :)

...I don't even know what any of those things are...
LOL!! ! That's kind of the point!

Cody, when I catch that silly critter he's going over my knee.

ANYWAY, I remember some really old computers. The good old Amigas. Atari 2600s. Amstrad CPC. You think disks were old hat?

It was so hateful when there would be error messages. "read error b" was usually the problem. I used to have nightmares at night where the words would appear on the computer and it would start burning or smoking...it bothered me that much. Hey! I was only little!

I think it is worth noting that the battle cry of the Baby Boomers back in flower child days was "never trust anyone over thirty". Now this same cohort is singing "nappie" days are here again as they approach their second childhoods.

We will all be old one day--if we're lucky.

Weres all the youngins?

haha! Oh man you just pissed a lot of 30 somethings off big time.

But perhaps you don't quite know all the history of computers. Like when I was your age I was playing Pong on PC's and Space Invaders in the Arcade. So in a way we have seen it from the beginning as far as general public systems are concerned. Our parents generation was the last of the computer dinosaurs, but they are generally in their 70s and above.

Plus it was people in our generation(s) that built or worked on the systems you inherited. I for instance had to troubleshoot and repair computers in military systems, and had to go down to the individual data bits at times. So some of us actually know how that stuff inside works.

Speaking as an oldbie, with all that implies in respect of flawed comprehension skills, I'm having problems understanding how a babe, barely off the teat, can refer to those who have been online since time began as "noobz".

What's that, nurse? My sponge bath? But I had one 5 minutes ago... What do you mean that was yesterday?

Your parents have my deepest sympathies. I can only imagine what going thru this must be like for them.
