This is so classic.

Iwan't everybody to share in the humor.

Yesterday, Bland responded to a post (don't remember any thing else about it) where someone used the word doodle.
Blands respnse was Whats a doodle

Armed with an expanded vocabulary is wasting no time in its utilization.

Be ever cautious of the "D" word, its best if you just use your noodle.
FYI, a noodle is the 'other' head, for most guys does the least of his thinking.

disclaimer;
this is a fun post. i am not intending to get a laugh at your expense, i am laughing with you. Immeadiately, i read 'doodle' and audibly laughed.

Thanks for the fun

I want to thank SB2 and ascan and all others involved for conducting a "flame test" to test the validity of the thread topic  .

But seriously, I think the last couple of posts SB2 and ascan wrote to each other demonstrate my point really well: they got kind of heated and irritated with each other before that, but then they actually answered the questions the other put to them ( "what do you mean, grovelling in self-pity?") seriously and thoughtfully, and in the end, they got back to being civil with one another, with an apology or two thrown in for good measure.

I think that's a pretty Aspie-specific trait, at least in great numbers, because posters on most boards I've been on never get back to the "answer the questions thoughtfully and seriously" part -- they just continue to be offended by the original thing that ticked them off in the first place.

I just thought this was a good thread topic and this deserved to be a 100 post reply thread.
just trying to help.
The thing is, i have had an opportunity to have a few discussions with ascan in the past and i respect many of his views. i didn't wan't to be ill will between us.
and i also thought that there was a decent chance he was 'tongue in cheek' (ing) me. So i felt the need to protect my reputation, and a friendship.

I have no problem going overboard if i feel that the group is being attacked or myself.
It isn't about winning a debate (i can be wrong) so it isn't about ego with me, moreso it is about what i perceive as the greater good. And sometimes drastic measures are called for. Not each time.

Thank you Grayson, i have come to respect you deeply.

Our pedantic way of speaking, which seems perfectly normal to us, does not easily lend itself to argument. "Flame Wars" require this. This is only my opinion, of course, but it is an idea.

"Emo" stands for emotional, which, from what I have been able to gather by listening to people, is what the name for a gothic, depressed person is. Kind of a stereotype, I think. Here is an article about it, if you'd like more information.

maybe we just follow the rules a tad closer. or maybe the dissagreements we have (with the exception of the happeh days....) are more intelectual than emotional...

i would agree with the intellectual over emotional aspect. I have little emotions, working constantly onm the intellectual, some would think i am failing.

But, i am not too sure if i agree with the rules aspect. I seem to recall a young SB², challenging the rules. I never grew up.

I read many a post by many whose youth looked similar. We generally don't know why we are in trouble, which rule we violated, and why were we in trouble.

I think it goes back to the days of being bullied. Many here were called names, and ridiculed.
Because of that, the people around here are more sensitive of not hurting others feelings. And similarly, also about coming to the aid of someone who has been called a name, on this site.

Rules, we don't need no stinkin' rules.

As I see Flaming does not get anybody anywhere just hurt feeling. We maybe able to listen better here at the Wrong Planet, and that is good for the most part. But here and there We have had some Flaming Wars so to speak. But over all We do seems I think to be better off than most other forums out there in the end.

We all must learn to listen and not let our egos get the best of Us in the end. So when We do have a Flame War, We need to say something to the ones that are Flaming in the end. So it can get resolved in the end Quickly.

I haven't been on any other forums so I don't know how severe it can get. I just know that others can do all these nifty things that I haven't learned yet and because nobody knows who I am I can act a little off-color and no-one cares!! !

I wish to make a proposal that Pad change his username to MR. DOODLE. All in favor, present a corresponding Avatar......of an object that rhymes with "doodle".
