Yes, I agree, I can't wear synthetic fibres; they make me feel sick. I wear mostly cotton, but cashmere or silk are good. I don't like wool though. In fact, I hate wool, its horribly itchy.

I would say that having a dentist ripping out your wisdom teeth with no anesthesia is torture, but shopping comes at a close second.

I rather like shopping, actually.
However, I HATE when there are: too many people in the store, too bright of lights, too much noise, too loud of music, or the salespeople will not leave you alone or they come up to you right away and say "Hi, how may I help you?".
How do you know how they can help you? You've only just stepped into the store and haven't yet had a chance to walk around. I've heard in Europe that is is considered very rude for salespeople to do that, is that true? I hate America if it is.
I also hate if the store is cluttered with too many items and clothing racks, or too many horrible fabrics and such.

Shopping itself really doesn't bother me, It's when stores are super-busy that I start loosing it. Little kids with high-pitched screams running around can also drive me nuts, though crying babies doesn't, strangely. I actually like the bright lighting in large stores, the more white the light the better, It's poor, somewhat red lighting from incandescent lights that gives me a headache.

I feel your pain. I try to do most of my shopping during the week while I'm at work in Manhattan. Surprisingly, the stores are less crowded down there during the week than at home on the weekend. I only go occassionally and stores like Wal-Mart grate on my last nerve.

I used to think that I liked Malls when I was a teen. I didn't know that I was having meltdowns when I didn't leave soon enough, because with me, a meltdown sounds like I'm just in a bitchy mood. But everything would start to grate on my last nerve - lights, sounds, smells, people staring, etc. Now, I spare myself the agony. I never set foot in a mall on purpose. Last week, I had to go, because I needed an estimate on eye glasses, and believe me, I nearly race walked through there, got the estimate, and race walked back out.

I guess I'm strange then. I can't for the life of me stand being in a classroom full of people talking or school halls with people walking all around, but I can stand to be in a mall just fine unless it is really loud or way too many people than normal. I just sort of detach from things.

Well, except for not that long ago I went to the mall here with my mother, it was terrible because way too much stimuli, we went to this store called Delias which I refuse to enter ever again. I have seen their clothes online, so I wanted to go in, but could tell I wouldn't like it because the music was so completely loud you wouldn't believe it and the lights were blinding but I went in anyway because curiosity got the better of me.
Right when we walk in, sales lady asks how we are and if she can help us. I already wanted to leave because of the music and lights, then even more because of her. Then I was looking through a rack of pants and she comes over again to ask if I am looking for a particular style and I just walked out.
My mom chased after me yelling "what the hell is wrong with you?" because she doesn't understand why stuff like that bothers me so much and doesn't know that it's a possibility for me to have asperger's or anything because I've never been diagnosed.
I then begged her to leave the mall and take me somewhere else because the mall was also getting full, but mostly because after I get so much stimuli I can't think straight except to get as far away as I can but she wouldn't and I had to suffer. =(

i dislike shopping because the employees are brain dead and can't help you if you aren't looking for what everybody else is looking for. and if there are ever little snags in the transaction its always the most arduous task for the person behind the register, and a 30 second transaction turns into 5 minutes of phone calls and 3 different managers.

another thing ive noticed about shopping, and has been expressed through stand up comedy by louis ck, is how everybody behind the first person in line hates that person in line, because they just want to pay for their stuff and leave. you can almost feel the transition of hatred being placed upon you when its your turn at the register, the tension is always high, even more so around the holidays.

Shopping for me is based on the store that I am in...

For the most part, I can shop as best buy with no problems, and for all intents and purposes, I could live in a microcenter... Book stores are fine too...

Clothing stores are hit and miss. Most of the time, I buy clothes at Target and the like, and those places aren't too bad either (although I am more likely to go in, buy, and get out...)

The places that I would rather shoot myself in the foot than go are basically most designer stores: Abercrombie, Hollister, Old Navy, etc... Also, I tend to avoid large malls if I can... those are the worst...

Oh, really? I like Old Navy, never had a problem there aside from when they sell a lot of fleece. But the other places, YES.

Old navy has those pictures of half-naked men that are supposedly attractive wearing their jeans all over the place... it almost makes me finally understand why there are homosexuals on this planet...

Ugh i hate shopping too, the noises, lights, people, smells, ahh i cant stand longer then at the most 2 hours or i crash, today after 30mins i already started fading... horrible!

STATE FAIRS! MALLS! When I was little, I used to bite people on the back of the knee and shove, to get some room to breathe. This obviously freaked out the parental units, so eventually they learned to provide defensive backing for me in crowds, when it became clear that beating me would not make me stop.
