That sounds interesting. I've noticed that when I was working in East Ridge, TN as a bartender, I had more of a Southern accent than I typically do. When I spent a couple weeks in Chicago, I came back on the train sounding more midwestern. And for weeks after spending two months in Oregon, I sounded like most of them do, which still seems a bit Canadian to my ears. I've always been good at vocal mimicry, but sometimes it seems to happen by osmosis. My mother has the New Orleans accent, and mine gets even stronger on the occasions that I have a few drinks, according to my friends [and exes].

i think you have acting talent. it comes natural to those who do. i can't mimic anybody to save my life.

With all I've been through, I wouldn't be alive without some measure of acting talent, lol. There's another reading I did for a friend of mine in Portland, in which I did a pretty spot on Northeastern Italian-American accent. I have yet to find that video again, though.

I have a friend in Tennessee who used to work in radio and also called local college baseball games years ago. I've been trying to persuade him to do an internet radio show with me for a year or so now. I just want to find a decent format [and subject matter] that works for both of us, we don't just want to be yet another talk radio show. Mom has tried to encourage me to try out local theatre troupes too, but I do struggle with more social phobia than I used to. Funnily enough, I used to sing karaoke without thinking a thing of it [that really helped me open up more, I'm a closeted extrovert].

I have always wanted to play the lead in "Fiddler on the Roof", TBH. Always loved the story, the songs, the characters, and the Ukrainian humour.

I can dig it. The family called me 'old man' as far back as I can remember. When I was 26, I took one of those online quizzes which guessed one's age based on habits, movies, music, slang use, etc. It correctly guessed six Facebook friends within a year or two of their actual ages, but thought I was 58 years old. What's kind of funny is that I have a couple of friends who are 19 and 21 years old now. Until they got to know me, they thought I was around 24-25 [in spite of what the avatar says, I'm 36, but since my birthday this year, I've been thinking I was actually 37 for some reason, I'm that awful at math]. I have a single silver long gray hair up there. I was excited when I found it last year. It's like a medal of honour. It means I survived, lol.

Both speaking and singing, yes. I've also been told that I have perfect pitch.... I have GOT to quit smoking. I wish they'd effing legalize cannabis already, it's how Willie Nelson quit. It's not just illegal where I'm at, it's very hard to find when you know almost nobody locally.

I've cut my consumption in half over the past few months. My hope is to cut it in half again soon, which would be around four or five cigarettes a day, get down to one a day by the end of the year, then just quit altogether. I've tried everything to assist quitting but the prescription pills, which are not an option as I have no healthcare [thanks, G.O.P.], and am suspicious of the potential side effects of these anyhow. The free phone therapy for quitting smoking doesn't help me at all, on good days when I've tried to quit, it just makes me think more about smoking than I was before the therapy. If I didn't have the cost of cigarettes, I could definitely afford cannabis if and when it becomes legal locally. The state of Georgia has explored some [insignificant] medical options, but Atlanta itself desperately wants it legalized to boost tourism [gee, I wonder why tourists from everywhere else in the country don't like the South anymore... ]. If the damned [G.O.P. run] Senate would vote on reclassifying it next month in D.C. it could be decriminalized federally and potentially legalized anywhere in the U.S. It helps my stress, anxiety, and back pain better than any prescription pill ever has....

i am reminded of my army time, when basic training therapy got lotsa folks to quit cigarettes cold-turkey. they "tortured" the smokers on the dirt. it made me thankful that i wasn't one of them.
