Those mods who are supposed to be mature and tolerant, I am beginning to get the idea that they don't care about aspergers. Every time one write a nasty vandalism about AS on the page, for instance, they only cared about the general vandalism instead of thinking of it as being hurtful.

You found MATURE admins on Wikipedia?

Wonders will never cease...

Wikipedia is all about interpersonal politic for the past couple of years, the AS article is under the control of "an editor" (who may well, in truth be a group of people, from the hundred or more hours per week "she" spends editing articles without even taking into account the time she spends "politicking" by email) who is probably one of the most influential, and least scrupulous editors there...and "she" isn't even an admin.

Most of these people couldn't care less about ANYTHING (including impartial facts) except their own agenda, some of which are to peculiar and obscure to even guess at...but my best guess concerning the AS article is that it is under the control of a person, or group, who contracts to PR companies to maintain a specific "spin" on articles. Wikipedia is influential enough to be big business these days...

I find that article very dated anyway, it's of the 'they lack empathy' school....

Gosh very cynical, but unfortunately so, quite possibly right. Moreover I honestly don't care what that sort of source says about anything. If someone wants to find out about anything they would try harder than wikipedia, and if they don't then it is a reflection on them thus I disregard their views.

Wikipedia is like any other encyclopedia, a good place to start your search for facts, or if you only want to find out what (or who) something is.

That's actually rather true...unfortunately, most of the world doesn't realise it.

so does that make us lucky or not? I think it is always better to know the truth regardless of how lovely it is.

But for a good number of us, this school of thought is correct. I possess some empathy, but I am severely lacking in that department.

So here's a question, which sources do each of you consider to be reliable when it comes to ASD? I find there to be a wide range of views even when you limit your reading to things from the medical community. This psychologist says this, but this psychiatrist says that is hokum, this is the truth, and then a neurologist says you are both wrong, this is how it works. Sometimes they are all right. Sometimes all wrong.
